PRIMER

This deck is designed for fun and enjoyable multiplayer games with many interactions between all players in a (semi-)competitive meta. It still follows a strong theme and finally tries to win via executing some variety of (non-linear) infinite combos. Therefore the deck is filled with lots of tutors and control-elements beside a handful of utility-spells. Ramp is very important for a fast acceleration during the early game. Furthermore access to more mana means more power by more activations of the Kenny's abilities in grindier games. Manadorks (and secondary Manarocks) are the most important rampspells here because some of our infinite combos are dependent on them.

The most enjoyable part about the deck is the fact that it doesn't need to combo out for a win. There is so much versatility that this list can be played like a toolbox-style deck, too. It can even go down the beatdown-route if necessary. Kenrith, the Returned King is the perfect Commander for a balancing act between these playstyles.

I play in two different playgroups. Both have a remarkable powerlevel, but dont follow the full competitive way. While my main playgroup meets several days a week, my second playgroup meets only once in a month. I assume my main group to be the stronger one because the decks and games are definitely more competitive. Because of that i focus and relate on this group for meta adaptions.

My meta has a mixed lineup of decktypes. There are optimized combo decks, stax decks, pillow forts, high synergetic themes, battlecruisers and of course very aggressive decks that (try to) smash faces by turning creatures sideways. Each individual deck is strong and does well in whatever it is build for. I will mark some of the represented generals and their strategy:

Full competitive combo decks focus on much more stack-interaction than my list. The reason for that is obvious. Full competitive metas (normally) don’t have a high frequence of creature based strategies and won’t have to worry about playing or not playing to the board. There are no vigorous interactions on the board. Therefore stack-interaction is more common. Full competitive lists rarely play many creatures. As a logical consequence they dont focus on creature-interactions (e.g. creature removals or own „big“ creatures to keep up with the board). They tend to struggle at a table with more decks that play to the board.. or simply said: they are rarely prepared for attacking creatures bigger than a Tymna the Weaver.

My list trades stack-interaction for board-interaction to adress that. I can still combo out very fast, but i have to be more careful. I can form a very strong board presence for that, too. My list runs big creatures that can compete on the battlefield while still giving me a progress to my gameplan, e.g. Rune-Scarred Demon acts as a beater and a tutor which finds me a combo piece. Cards like Progenitor Mimic, Tradewind Rider or Seedborn Muse give notable advantage. Rattlesnake-cards like Archon of Justice hold back attackers and can be revived by Kenny for even more value.

Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter

  • This combo generates infinite mana (any color your nonland mana sources can produce) and cast triggers. Note that this combo requires one or more nonland permanent(s) that taps for 3+ mana.

Vigean Graftmage + Incubation Druid/Faeburrow Elder/Bloom Tender

  • As long as Incubation Druid has a +1/+1 counter on it, it can tap for 3 mana, of which 2 can be paid to untap itself via Vigean Graftmage, leaving you with a surplus of 1 mana. Repeating this process will result in infinite mana of each colours lands you control can produce. As long as there are at least 3 different colours among permantents you control, Faeburrow Elder or Bloom Tender go infinite with Vigean Graftmage in the same way as Incubation Druid, except it wont be able to net infinite blue mana as the blue mana will be spent for Graftmages untap ability each time.

Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation

  • Instant win if not interupted. Get the Oracle into play and cast DC in response to the ETB-trigger and name any card not in the deck to deck yourself for the win.

The deck moved to Moxfield. Check the link below:
