This deck centers on Tariel, Reckoner of Souls and her ability to steal creatures from my opponent's graveyards, so it naturally has plenty of methods for putting creatures into my opponent's graveyards. One particular combo of which I am very proud is using Ankle Shanker to give all my creatures deathtouch and then using Pestilence Demon to destroy all creatures on the battlefield, which becomes even more powerful if I have either Akroma's Memorial or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight on the battlefield as they shall prevent the damage that the demon would deal to my own creatures.

This deck is named in honor of its colors; Purgatory is typically portrayed as a place or state of existence between Heaven and Hell, which, in this game, is represented by the colors black and white, and the "fires" in the title are represented by the color red.
