Raider's Wake is the original card that this deck is designed around. I was looking for a cheap, fun deck build. I hadn't seen any decks built around Raider's Wake so I thought I would try something new.

The concept of the deck is to use discard in conjunction with Raider's Wake to kill of my opponents. After experimenting with some prototypes I realized that I needed more than just four copies of Raider's Wake to make the deck really work. Thus came in Torment of Scarabs. I found it to be a perfect complement to Raider's Wake. The cards working in conjunction can destroy an opponent's hand while depleting life and even board presence.

To make the deck work I went with heavy control via bounce and counters. They are in the deck to solely stall out the game. Of course using many bounce cards gives the opponent card advantage in the long run. To overcome this I chose Curious Obsession for extra card draw and damage. Along with that I found that Crashing Tide makes an excellent bounce card because it replaces itself and delays the game. To get in damage and trigger Raider's Wake consistently I chose 10 evasive, low cost creatures. Then I also used Consign//Oblivion for extra triggers of Raider's Wake.

I discovered a cool combo in the deck. As you use bounce to keep the field empty, Raider's Wake, Torment of Scarabs, and Oblivion empty out your opponent's hand. I played one game where I used bounce to keep my opponent's field clear and then within 10 turns I had three Torment of Scarabs on him and hit him with Oblivion. I emptied his hand out so he couldn't do anything. Then the triggers of Torment of Scarabs began draining life total. The game was set and I won.
