Feldon, For my Love

Commander / EDH

FrasierCrane

This is a sweet little deck I put together from going across a lot of the internet to find really cool cards and even sweeter synergies. A couple of those are infinite combos, just because sometimes you want a commander game to end! I'd say 50% of games that you win, you win through combo or achieving incremental value and slowing down your opponents.

-----Combos-----Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth and Metalworker + Rings of Brighthearth + Staff of Domination to make infinite mana. (With the Metalworker combo you need 3 artifacts in your hand to combo off, but it also lets you draw your deck. Getting infinite mana, you truly only have one way of winning with infinite mana, and that is with Staff of Domination. There are a couple flex spots in the deck that you could change to have the deck take more advantage of this. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts Easy ComboAnd lastly Mycosynth Lattice + Vandalblast / Mycosynth Lattice + Karn, Silver Golemn Destroys all lands... Even your own if you want to.

-----Sweet Synergies------Feldon lets you cheat out a lot of creatures from your graveyard back to the battlefield. So we play a ton of ETB effects to abuse this. Duplicant and Stingscourger in my meta Flametongue Kavu for quick creature removal if your opponents seem to be comboing off with creatures. Always remember when to use Feldon when they seem to be doing this so you don't look like a fool with a tapped Feldon and a graveyard full of interaction. I prefer Altar of Dementia to cards that discard directly from your hand. I do use things like Faithless Lotting .because I believe that they are a necessary evil to get some cards out of our hands but would like to play as little as possible. Having awkward hands were you cannot get creatures onto the field can happen. That's why we do play those cards, Insolent Neonate and the like. But the best cards in this deck are the wheel effects. If you can get your hands on a Wheel of Fortune I highly recommend it. Card draw in red is always hard to find and it always seems like it happens when you are already winning. A large part of playing Feldon is playing a slower game and jamming a lot of things at once and either winning or setting yourself into a great position.

------Thoughts------ Feldon is a great commander if you are looking for a mono-colored commander. He brings such wonders to the playgroup. He does get hated out pretty easily. But you have some things in the deck to protect him, and if you feel like he dies too quickly add some of protection because he is a large part of you winning games. Cards in my list that could be cut or are very flexible. Magewright's Stone seems like it's never a good draw and we never seem to have enough mana to use feldons ability twice with the additional cost of 1 from Mage. CuttableTormod's Crypt is a meta choice for me. FlexibleFlametongue Kavu is also a meta choice. Flexible Wheel of Fate is up gradable to Wheel of Fortune but it is an alright substitution, but it is very slow and hard to play around unlike Wheel of Fortune. Cuttable. Jaya Ballard, Task Mage She does double duty as a discard outlet and creature removable. I personally have her here for my meta. But I think she is still a very good outlet. Flexible Panharmonicon is an amazing card but can also be a super dead draw. Could be cuttable in more refined lists.
