I must admit, I love Polymorphist's Jest ! The artwork looks like a frog taking a selfie, the flavor text rocks ("The flies were bothering me."), and it has the potential to wreck some shop! I was reading the comments at MythicSpoiler to see if I could work this card in maybe a blue black removal deck, but as I read the comments, I found some AMAZING ideas! Frankly... enough to make a deck out of.
My goal is to make a post-rotation deck that makes my opponents laugh and is semi-competitive for Friday night.
Here are the combos and break downs:
Polymorphist's Jest + Scouring Sands Board wipe your opponents creatures and get a scry after!
Turn to Frog + Spark Jolt Spot removal and scry.
Polymorphist's Jest + Circle of Flame Kill all attacking creatures.
Polymorphist's Jest + Scuttling Doom Engine Unblockable 6/6.
Scuttling Doom Engine + Shrapnel Blast If he gets through and I sac him... Mucho hurt!
Ornithopter Chump block and Shrapnel Blast target.
Sideboard:
vs decks with counters: This deck's biggest weakness will be creatures with counters. Polymorphist's Jest only reduces the base to 1/1 all the +1/+1 counters are still there. Heroic decks and hydra decks could be a problem. I can kill some with Shrapnel Blast, and bring in 3x Curse of the Swine 3x Lightning Strike for Polymorphist's Jest and Spark Jolt . Also, if you are hitting hydras with massive counters, bounce 'em back with Void Snare .
vs White: Bring in 3x Stormbreath Dragon for 3x Scuttling Doom Engine. White has to many good card to take out my finisher, but the dragon has protection!
vs wtf?: There is always that strategy or card you didn't see coming Phyrexian Revoker can be a big help in that situation. Also, Void Snare can help keep you alive in lots of situations!
