Not enough mill cards

You don't need a lot of mill cards like Compelling Argument when you can use the creatures to trigger Navigator's Ruin. Any suggestions for better cards?

This deck is seriously really cool, I keep looking at it and really dig it! Have you had a lot of chances to test it out? And if so what have your results been so far?

KidTwister Unfortunately, I had no time for testing it yet :(

Morthius, that's totally fine man, this deck seems like it can totally work just by looking at it..maybe haha I actually just ordered all the cards I needed to emulate this deck so I'll definitely test it out as soon as I build it and I'll tell you how it goes!

You can't continually replay compelling argument from the graveyard with Sarcophagus. If a card has cycling and wasn't cycled, it would exile instead of going back to the graveyard

Rabidbean You can play Compelling Argument first and after that Abandoned Sarcophagus. After that you can play all Compelling Argument again from the graveyard.

You mention playing it two times out of the graveyard, you can only play it once. You also mention redoing and recycling it to win the game, which you can't do unless you have more copies

Rabidbean Ah sorry, my fault. I have corrected the text above.

I like the deck. I want to build a deck using Lantern of Insight and Mindshrieker in order to eliminate threats or self mill Fleet Swallower. Then I can use black cards to raise it instead of paying the mana cost. Meanwhile, if I get the opportunity to raise something better from an opponent's graveyard that's good too.

I didn't know Fraying Sanity existed, and that now makes the swallower itself a win condition. Thanks for that.

Have you considered adding Countervailing Winds?

FalconForce Thanks for your idea :D! Thought about it but did not need to use it in my test games. Agains a strong counter spell deck it would be a nice idea for the sideboard. When you are using Lantern of Insight or Mindshrieker you can't play standard anymore. For a modern deck there are much more good cards outside, but this deck is only for standard.

So the combo is great i thonk everyone wants to see it happen but the rest of the mill cards in standard aside from navigators ruin suck. With fleet swallower and fraying insanity you mill this in one turn. And with dowsing dagger its too easy to stop cause every single removal spell in standard with cmc < 2 . can take care of siren stormtamer and slither blade. Many other decks in the top 8 are aggresive enough that if you dont manage to make the dagger flip you will lose. I love playing mill but if you want to make that combo happen you need to focus on digging though your library, not taking damage, counter magic and ramp. Fleet swallower needs to be out early and you at least need a way to protect it if you cant find frayong insanity. So much suggestion would be to splash green or black or both. Thats all ima say though cause im building this deck too and while i want to see its fruition i want to see if anyone has my same vision

I've played a few rounds with the deck. I want it to be viable so badly, but it really gets wrecked by almost every deck. I snuck through one victory versus a creature heavy deck that didn't know what I was up to then get mana screwed game two. The only time this has come through was Slither Blade turn 1, then manage to stick a Navigator's Ruin while Fraying Sanity was out, with a little help from Compelling Argument. But the slightest disruption completely ends the game. Dowsing Dagger is just too slow and I have never gotten even close to a Fleet Swallower.

Anyway, I can say the game I won was magical!

I think Negate is more of a sideboard card. You should replace them with Essence Scatters in my opinion.
