Ambush Commander Land Revenge!Won this multiplayer pod by chilling with only a few elves, dropping a couple artifact removal cards to stay in people's good graces by hating on the Brago deck. Managed to land a Caged Sun that stuck around because I didn't have anything to sink mana into-- a mistake!
Topdecked a Genesis Wave and cast it for 15, netting me a lot of lands, Asceticism, and a couple elves, including Elvish Harbinger. With Harbinger I searched up Ambush Commander, and managed to draw it with Soul of the Harvest triggers. Ended the turn with about 26 lands, Caged Sun, Asceticism, and some elves.
The Scion of the Ur-Dragon player played Merciless Eviction that turn, wiping my board and leaving me with just lands and the artifacts and enchantments, then passed back around to me.
On my turn, using a couple lands, I played Ambush Commander and Ezuri, Renegade Leader, giving me around 20 2/2 elves (from Caged Sun). I attacked out with 15 land-elves, Overran twice with Ezuri, and knocked out the Brago. Left up one forest (two mana) to sacrifice Ambush Commander in the event of a boardwipe.
Definitely necessary, because the Scion player played a dragon that could deal 2 damage to each creature without flying. I sac'd the Commander to give Ezuri +3/+3 and save my lands, but he did it twice more, wiping my board.
Luckily I had a
Revive
in hand; so I played a land, Revived the Ambush Commander, played Ezuri, swung out at the Scion player and took him out; again, leaving up two mana to sac the Commander if necessary. Didn't need to leave up mana to regenerate elves with Ezuri because of Asceticism.
The Odric, Master Technician player didn't draw a boardwipe (and it probably wouldn't have mattered), so I swung out when he passed and won! Yay Ambush Commander!
At Least it's not Skithiryx: Triumph of the Hordes
This game was in a 3 player pod, with Marath, Will of the Wild and Meren of Clan Nel Toth. I won in a fairly straightforward but brutal manner: I had been making a lot of elf tokens with Lys Alana Huntmaster, so I swung out in regular fashion and took out the Meren player. Then, with two of us left, the Marath player boardwiped and passed.
I had
Concordant Crossroads
out. I played Seige Behemoth, Ezuri, buffed Ezuri with his own ability, then played Triumph of the Hordes. Swung out; Marath had a blocker, but it didn't matter because of Seige Behemoth. 14 unblockable Infect for the win!
Who Needs More than One Forest?
Turn 1, Elvish Mystic. Turn 2, Priest of Titania. Turn 3,
Elvish Guidance
,
Elvish Archdruid
. Turn 4, even though Genesis Wave got hated out of my hand, I had
Elvish Promenade
so I was able to play Ezuri and pump a couple dudes to swing in for damage. Turn 5 I had 74 damage in Overruns and buffs.
So I took out two more players. Then the turn after, I sent another 74 damage to the last player and won.
The whole time, I only had my one Forest :)
Copperhorn Scout Proves Her Worth
This card is nuts. We played a "fast commander" game in a 3 player pod of Meren of Clan Nel Toth and Scion of the Ur-Dragon so I wasn't keeping track of what was happening. Luckily Meren draws a lot of hate early because letting her stick around becomes an inevitable win, so my board state of Copperhorn Scout (T1), Priest of Titania (T2), Ezuri, Renegade Leader and Joraga Treespeaker (T3), Timberwatch Elf, and some land fetching elves I got off of Descendants' Path stuck around. One turn too long.
I took out Scion with straight up Ezuri damage. I played Ambush Commander (my favorite card in the deck by now) upping my elves count to 13. Buffed Ezuri with Timberwatch Elf pre-combat, then swung in with Ezuri and Copperhorn Scout. No Overrun necessary; buffing Ezuri a second time with Timberwatch was 28 Commander damage.
(I took out Scion first because he had already Unmaked my Priest and was going to rebound it next turn.)
The turn after I swung in at Meren, who had a pretty robust board state. No matter. I Overran once to make use of my Joraga Treespeaker mana, then attacked with 5 land-elves, Copperhorn Scout, and Ezuri. Meren blocked everything to Ezuri, but Copperhorn Scout had untapped both Joraga Treespeaker AND all of my lands-- since they're creatures. Overran twice more for game.
