The Most Popular Horobi, Death's Wail EDH deck on tappedout

Most Amount of Money for a card: Fifty cents. I will (almost) never use suggestions above this price.

This deck is made to be as inexpensive as possible while still having a plausible win condition, using Horobi, Death's Wail and cards that target creatures to wipe the board, then swing until you win.

Disclaimers

Before playing this deck, there are two things you should know:

• First off, this deck cannot really be bought for under five dollars, as those are low prices and on tcgplayer at least, you must buy at least one dollar worth of cards from each place you buy from.

• Secondly, this deck is not competitive but very irritating, making it best to play casually against people you will never see again. However, for bonus flavor points, it can work well in 2HG with Extreme Budget Solitude, as that deck is a voltron deck, and Narset, Enlightened Master has hexproof, making her immune to Horobi, Death's Wail's effect.

Why Horobi?

I was looking for an inexpensive general when I stumbled upon Horobi, Death's Wail. Not only did he fit my desire for a low price, but he also built a multitude of cards around him perfect for this very purpose: being inexpensive while destroying your opponent.

More Important Cards

• Butcher of Malakir: Makes my opponents more wary of targeting my stuff.

• Dark Prophecy: Similar to Butcher of Malakir, makes Horobi, Death's Wail not so much of a double-edged sword.

• Dingus Staff: against the right deck, an instantaneous win. Not as effective against others, but still racks up the damage fairly quickly.

• Dross Harvester: A good body, protection from some decks's removal, gains me a ton of life, and when he loses more than gains, I can kill him with anyone of my guys.

• Falkenrath Noble: A slightly worse, but less expensive, version of Blood Artist.

• Glaring Spotlight: Makes me be able to target more creatures, and can also give my creatures unblockable and hexproof.

• Grim Haruspex: Read Dark Prophecy.

• Guul Draz Overseer: One of the few damage boosts in the deck.

• Harvester of Souls: Thanks to its reprint in Conspiracy: Take the Crown, this baby has dropped to a decent price, and gives easy card advantage instantly.

• Helm of Chatzuk: A one drop with a one mana ability.

• Kuro, Pitlord: A bit expensive to cast, but easily worth it instantaneously.

• Liquimetal Coating: A worse verison of Squee's Toy, but with Xenic Poltergeist, any permanent can be destroyed!

• Mogis' Marauder: A three mana 2/2 that usually kils at least four creatures when it enters.

• Nefashu: A tad expensive to buy, but when it attacks, it kills five creatures!

• Oasis: A cheap land that kills things!

• Ogre Slumlord: Never, in the in the history of magic, has anyone said: "I don't want an army of rats."

• Orc Sureshot: Just re-write his ability to say: "Creatures you control have 'When this creature enters the battlefield, destroy target creature.'"

• Retreat to Hagra: Usually a better Caustic Crawler, as it is only three mana, and can drain your opponents as well. Only problem is it isn't a 4/4.

• Retribution of the Ancients: By far, one of the two BEST removals card in this deck. It is a one mana spell that requires one mana any number of times to kill any number of creatures.

• Revel in Riches: The most expensive card, with only Touch of Darkness coming close, but a one-card win condition while Horobi, Death's Wail is in play.

• Sacred Armory You don't have to tap it, so as long as you have the mana, it keeps on destroying.

• Scale of Chiss-Goria: The main reason I've added this in this section is that it is one of the two flash cards in this deck, so it contains the element of surprise.

• Shadow Alley Denizen: Read what is said about Orc Sureshot, and re-apply it here, except this guy is only one mana.

• Shadows of the Past: Easy scrying every turn, and a last resort win-con/survival tactic

• Sifter of Skulls: Again, read Butcher of Malakir + Dark Prophecy .

• Squee's Toy: A one-drop that doesn't need mana for its ability! Only one card better than it for removal in this deck.

• Tooth of Chiss-Goria: Read the description for Scale of Chiss-Goria.

• Touch of Darkness: A one mana Plague Wind? Sign Me up! The other best removal card in this deck, and somewhat expensive, but too good to pass up.

Weaknesses

I prefer not to build decks such as this, because it it too Commander dependent. Due to this, any creatureless control, Nevermore based, or Noncreature win condition deck can easily beat this deck with the right cards.
