Reanimator for $1,200 off?

Yup, that's exactly what this is. I've always been a fan of the idea of Reanimator-style decks, but way too poor to ever bother playing Goryo's Vengeance in modern or the entire format of legacy. But for $20 we've set up a solid Reanimator deck, complete with an 8/8 Annihilator 2 with Haste on turn 2 if all goes well.

So how does this thing work?

Let's break it down into a few categories

  • Faithless Looting - Draw 2, dump 2; it's the best draw spell in red, and the best in any graveyard deck. Works great with a fatty and Dragon's Breath in hand.
  • Cathartic Reunion - Dump 2, draw 3; it's a great alternative if we have a couple dead cards in hand, but overall we should first be looking to Looting before this.
  • Insolent Neonate - Dump 1, draw 1 or use it as a body on the board if we need blockers. Overall pretty versatile.
  • Putrid Imp - Another discard/graveyard staple. Make it a flyer by discarding one, or use this to dump all the pieces you need into the graveyard no questions asked.
  • Lightning Axe - Blow up almost every threat in the format for while also putting a card in the yard.
  • Creatures With Cycling: Horror of the Broken Lands/Granitic Titan - Draw a card and set up one of our reanimation targets for /
  • Ulamog's Crusher - This mofo is our main reanimation target and our wincon 90% of the time. Annihilator 2 takes out a lot of problems that could get in our way or clear their field of lands if played early enough.
  • Horror of the Broken Lands - Lots of discard is going to happen in this deck, so we have this as a potential resurrection target to capitalize on that.
  • Granitic Titan - Cycle it then bring it back for a 5/4 with menace, which can go a long way in certain matchups.
  • Exhume - The reason we can even play this deck in the first place. Just make sure you have a good creature in the graveyard (hopefully with Dragon Breath). If you're lucky enough to play this before they have any creatures in the grave, this essentially becomes a Reanimate.
  • Dragon Breath - Drop this in the grave ASAP and give our reanimation target haste as soon as it hits the field, then pump it with leftover red mana later on.
  • Terminate - The premiere Rakdos kill spell in pauper. Takes care of almost everything, including Gurmag Angler.

This is one of the decks I'll be bringing to pauper events at my LGS, so I will be updating with results. Any ideas or suggestions are always appreciated.
