Budget Goal: Exava for <$20.
About the deck: Making a deck for Exava while keeping a budget isn't too hard, since there are so many creatures in BR that either enter the battlefield with +1/+1 counters or can easily get them. There are some obvious cards that can't make the cut due to the budget, such as Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, Maga, Traitor to Mortals , and Grave Betrayal. Of course there are several other commanders in the Rakdos colors that you could use for a cheap deck, but there are only a few under $1. It kind of defeats the purpose of making a sub-$20 deck if your commander is half as expensive as the remainder of the deck (Olivia Voldaren). So that took me down to a couple choices for a viable, inexpensive general: Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch, Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury, Lyzolda, the Blood Witch, Tsabo Tavoc , or Tymaret, the Murder King. I picked Exava because I felt she was the best general for a well-rounded deck that budget cards could support sufficiently.
Now what about the deck itself? Well, You drop creatures and attack to the face. Really, this is the most "Boros-Like" Rakdos deck I've ever made. It's pretty aggro, but with some good supplement in order to help out. This deck isn't as aggro as say Xenagos, God of Revels, but it is very close to the Edric deck that I made, without sharing any colors. You have lots of small creatures that can attack, die, resurrect, and attack again later. You can also use other tactics in order to lower the life totals of your opponents. We have pingers like Rakdos Ickspitter and Hellrider , ways of sucking the life out of your opponents like Retreat to Hagra and Chancellor of the Dross , and several ways to remove problems that are in the way such as Drakestown Forgotten and In Garruk's Wake .
