Here it is, my first crack at Esper in the current Standard. It took a beating losing a few cards; but the key card; Teferi, is still alive and kicking. Here's the lowdown:

EARLY GAME Show

Like all control decks; a clean board is a good board. Cast down and Moment of craving will do the job. I prefer instant speed removal; which is why I didn't go for Dead Weight. With all the Jump-Start cards in play, Syncopate will be very helpful; save your counters vs. Green for the Vine Mere; as Ritual of soot will not get them

MID-GAME Show

Vraska's Contempt and Ritual of Soot becomes available. Flashing down the Dream Eater will temporarily remove a big threat, but the payoff will be worth it if you have counter magic in hand. Ritual of Soot should clear the board it won't get the really big things; so save your spot removal for that. Teferi is....well if you don't see the value in Teferi by now as a control walker, you should go home and rethink your MTG life.

LATE GAME Show

Chromium, the Mutable is your wild card. Big body; hexproof, and flash will give your opponent nightmares for days. Use him when you have alot of cards in hand to keep him alive.

SIDEBOARD Show

Duress : Anti-control. That is all

Disdainful Stroke Lots of things hurt you at 4 CMC and up; if that is the type of deck you're up against, this will be very helpful

Invoke the Divine Use this in mirrors to take down Searches or other enchantment decks.

Thief of Sanity Enjoyed Gonti's ability in the last standard? How's a better version on a stick with flying? Kryptonite for control; causes grief for midrange and combo. It's a strong card

Negate Mirror matchup card. You only have one but one is all you really need

The Eldest Reborn Hexproof, planeswalkers, and other really big nasties can't do much when they are forced to be sac'd. The best part is being able to bring something back and use it. This is a really strong card and should be used in a good portion of your 2nd game.

Vona, Butcher of Magan Replacing the Dream Eaters in some matchups with her is a sweet deal. Lifelink + Vigilance is a huge plus, but what makes her very strong is her ability to kill on command (albeit on your turn). 7 life is steep; but 7 life to whack a walker is even better. This is a buttrest against creature heavy matchups.
