A while ago I had an idea for a "black magic" commander deck. I wanted to build a deck around a couple different ideas:

it can not have an infinite combo it needs to run as few creatures as possible

I wanted a mono black edh deck that doesn't center around black creatures. I wanted to build a deck whose spells struck fear into my opponents and without the infinite combos that I feel kind of dilute the intimidation factor. That being said I took the path of 'creatures don't participate' and hand control to be able to keep the game going on as long as possible until I can built up the black energy needed to drain my opponents.

Erebos is the perfect commander. I don't often have the devotion to put him online so he is rarely ever removed from the game once he hits the board and he gives me a consistent card draw option so I don't lose steam while at the same time preventing my opponents from gaining life. He really feels to me to be the "win at all costs" type of commander and he has really proven his worth in this deck.
