"When a newly acquired State has been accustomed to live under its own laws and in freedom, there are three methods whereby it may be held. The first is to destroy it; the second, to go and reside there in person; the third, to suffer it to live on under its own laws, subjecting it to a tribute, and entrusting its government to a few of the inhabitants who will keep the rest your friends"-Niccolo Machiavelli in "The Prince"

This deck is [loosely] based off of Machiavelli's ideas on how to control a newly conquered empire. The goal is to simultaneously put each idea into practice, and although a game of Magic isn't as intense as conquering a nation, the principles are [somewhat] similar. The strategy:

1: Destroy- Keep your opponents in check using some of these nifty cards

Armageddon / Cleansing - Land destruction

Wrath of God - Destroy those pesky creatures

Telepathy -Know the perfect time to counter some spells

2: Live (Reside)- Sometimes the key to winning is simply outlasting an opponent (Stall them)

Energy Field + Rest in Peace - No damage

Propaganda - Slow down attackers

Serendib Sorcerer - Make an opponent double-think attacking you

3: Friends- Gaining support can be as important as an army

Kami of the Crescent Moon - Card draw

Dream Halls - Help speed the game up (a little)

Tempt with Reflections - More creatures :)

The Prince - Other than looking like Machiavelli, he is still the perfect commander for the deck. His ability fits all three categories by limiting your opponents' options in terms of blocking and attacking, and if the situation calls for it, could deal with a big creature

This deck is supposed to be adaptable and remain somewhat true to the book it was based on, any suggestions on how to improve it would be greatly appreciated. :)
