Introduction

The idea of this deck is to gain control of the board and play your Enigma Drake and Spellheart Chimera. Would love to hear any kind of advice and suggestion. Thanks

The idea behind this deck

The deck has changed a lot of since in begginging it was just intro pack with 4x Spellheart Chimera and some minor replacements. After some time of playing and replacing I've put this deck on the tappedout.net and with a help of good people on the internet it has changed into what you see now.

The current idea of playing this deck is to try to find your cheap burn eg. Lightning Bolt/Magma Jet so you can gain control of the board while playing Thought Scour targeted on yourself to gain instants and sorceries to the graveyard so your Enigma Drake and Spellheart Chimera get huge, after that you just try to protect them with your counterspells and make your way to the victory.

Card Explanation

Instants

• Izzet Charm - Removal, counterspell, draw/discard. Basicly everything that this deck needs
• Lightning Bolt - Burn and removal really powerfull againts small creatures
• Magma Jet - Worse version of Lightning Bolt but the scry 2 is kinda nice
• Mana Leak - 2 mana counterspell is just great
• Steam Augury - Lets you go through the deck faster, plus the benefit of more cards in graveyard
• Thought Scour - Card draw and 2 cards in graveyard, this lets you get your Enigma Drake have so much power
• Electrolyze - Just added this card to the deck, not yet tested

Creatures

• Cryptic Serpent - 2 mana for 6/5 is just huge, since you can have this card cost 2 mana in about turn 4
• Enigma Drake - just better Spellheart Chimera since it passes the Lightning Bolt test
• Guttersnipe - more burn if needed
• Spellheart Chimera - worse than Enigma Drake but still the win condition of this deck

Other

• Jace, Unraveler of Secrets - Well I already own him so I just put him in, don't think that he is important tho
• Swiftwater Cliffs - I'm just poor
• Evolving Wilds - Same as Swiftwater Cliffs

Sideboard

• Negate - More counterspells
• Dissolve - For slower games
• Echoing Truth - Haven't tried this card yet
• Magma Jet - More burn and cheap removal
• Pyroclasm - againts aggro

Cards to replace

• Jace, Unraveler of Secrets - No important reason this should be in the deck, its too slow for this deck, If you want to replace it with another planeswalker then Ral Zarek is your best bet.
• Cryptic Serpent - Haven't played this card too much, but I feel you can either add another burn spell or replace it with other creature benefiting the deck eg. Young Pyromancer,Baral, Chief of Compliance
• Guttersnipe - even thought i haven't played this card yet i feel like Young Pyromancer would be much better.

Cards I'm testing

This panel represent cards that I have played in this deck, which were suggested as suggestions, and also cards I'm planning to test.

• Faithless Looting - I will test this card switching it with Thought Scour NOT YET TESTED
• Epic Experiment - Card that is supposed to replace Steam Augury NOT YET TESTED
• Young Pyromancer - Card to replace Guttersnipe, but I don't have the budget to test this card NOT YET TESTED
• Cathartic Reunion- If Faithless Looting's card loss would be too harsh. NOT YET TESTED
• Think Twice - This card was tested and replaced by Thought Scour, I felt like the 2 mana for a card draw was too slow, and the flashback removes the card from graveyard which doesn't help the deck.
• Runechanter's Pike - Not enough creatures in this deck for this to work properly.
• Nivix Cyclops - Didn't feel strong in this deck, replaced by Cryptic Serpent
• Rift Bolt - Magma Jet just works better in this deck.
• Bedlam Reveler - Since I often have around 5-6 cards in my hand, the discarding of those didn't feel right.
