MATCH REPORT

1-2 Vehicles

I blitzed the first game, he got me the second game, then I lost the third game through bad draw. I started with too many lands in hand then drew land three times in a row.

2-0

NO idea what the theme of this deck was. He played Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Tamiyo, Field Researcher, and Kiora, Master of the Depths, but there didn't seem to be any overarching theme.

This guy has been playing at my LGS for about a year and he NEVER gets any better at playing. He makes the same silly mistakes over and over. This time he kept trying to remove my Bristling Hydra while I had enough to make it Hexproof.

2-1 Control and Burn

This deck had lots of Counter and removal spells. Win Cons were Chandra, Torch of Defiance and Rise from the Tides. He got me one game by killing all my key Creatures, and running me out of so I couldn't protect my Bristling Hydra. The other two games I was able to play more Creatures than he had removal spells.

2-0 Control

This deck had lots of removal with a Won Con of using big Creatures with Trample.

I kept getting my Creatures outside the range of Essence Extraction and Grasp of Darkness.

MVPs were Bristling Hydra, which turned out to be my major Win Con, and Nature's Way, which got rid of pesky fliers and large Creatures, especially when used on a pumped up Bristling Hydra. I was also able to use it to get lethal Trample damage through in one game.

I sided in Archangel Avacyn  Flip almost every game, and it did its job by protecting Creatures, particularly one game where I was able to beat my Opponent down with Fairgrounds Trumpeter.

Sage of Shaila's Claim did a magnificent job of bringing in three , then sticking around to be a chump blocker.

How good is Authority of the Consuls? Haven't playtested it yet.

Btw, feels like Blossoming Defense is an auto 'X' of in the 75. Not sure if I have too much of a Modern perspective but it seems so good. However, I could see it be somewhat of a meta call, too.

HairyManBack I've seen Blossoming Defense used in decks similar to this one and it works well.

I'm quite happy to have only my Bristling Hydra get Hexproof, and prefer Nature's Way, because of the Trample and destroying Opponent Creatures. Due to what it does Nature's Way just offers so much more than Blossoming Defense, at each stage of the game.

Authority of the Consuls completely nerfs aggro decks, especially those with Vehicles that rely on Creatures to Crew as soon as they hit the field.

It tends to be the first card I Sideboard out, if it doesn't curb my Opponent.

Ic. When Nature's Way was spoiled it looked to be the best 'fight' green removal to date. I've done almost nothing with the new Standard and I've been looking at what it's evolved/ing into. Furthermore, energy mechanic has shown to be much more impactful than I thought. Didn't even think energy would make Standard outside Aether Hub and Harnessed Lightning. And maybe some other less great cards only to warrant Hub and Lightning.

Last night I did play against a deck with Authority. It was annoying for what it did effect. Seems like a good card.

I play very casually with a group of friends and I made this deck for a bit of fun... it rocks, I didn't loose a game and beat a guy who plays FNM regularly! Good job

Glad the deck played well for you Bodyrocker, and that you were able to kick some arse!

Thanks for the positive feedback.
