Enchanting! - Bruna, Light of Alabaster Aura Deck

Modern* Angels Aura Hexproof Combo Enchantment WU (Azorius)

Revedeka

I've been wanting to make a deck around as many Angels as I can, this time its Bruna, Light of Alabasters turn! For my other decks, check out my main angel deck Modern Mono white Angel deck ,or my Red-White Modern angel lifegain deck, Exalted/tokens angel deck or my "Enter the battlefield, and destroy it! feat, Angel of Despair !

GENERAL GAMEPLAN

This deck is all about the auras. In the early game you want to get Kor Spiritdancer and Mesa Enchantress out so when you can play your aura cards you can draw a lot of cards to speed up the deck. Draw as many as you can, it doesnt matter if you have to discard cards. If you discard cards be sure to discard aura's. You can get them back later with either Bruna, Light of Alabaster or Retether. Kor Spiritdancer also makes an excelent aura target in the early game. Then when you can summon Bruna, Light of Alabaster and equip her with Swiftfoot Boots for the hexproof and haste, you can maybe also make her unblockable with Thassa, God of the Sea, you will one-shot your opponent.

LANDS

4 x Hallowed Fountai - Gives either white or blue mana, and you dont have to worry about the 2 life too much, since you can get lifelink from Daybreak Coronet.

4 x Mystic Gate - This card is here to make sure you have mana of both colours.

4 x Prairie Stream - With 12 basic lands, the chance that this one gets into play tapped is pretty low, and gives mana for both colours.

9 x Plains - This deck uses Plains way more than Island. For that reason 9 Plains.

3 x Island - This deck uses Plains way more than Island. For that reason only 3 Island.

CREATURES

4 x Kor Spiritdancer - The perfect card for this deck. Early game creature, lets you draw a card everytime you play an aura, and if you put that aura on Kor Spiritdancer its gets an extra +2/+2! This is the target for your aura's until you get Bruna, Light of Alabaster out. 4 of these because the draw effect is huge in this deck, just get as many cards as you can from this, dont be afraid to enchant your creatures. If you draw too many card, discard your aura's. You can get them back with either Bruna, Light of Alabaster or Retether.

3 x Thassa, God of the Sea - This card should probably be in the enchantment section, since it will never get to be a creature. However Tappedout wants it with the creatures, so I will put it here aswell to avoid confusion. The scry 1 is a nice ability, especially if you have some card draw. The real reason why this card is in the deck is the ability to make creatures unblockable. This and the fact its an enchantment which works with some cards in this deck made me put 3 into this deck. However I am not too sure about this choice. You may see this card get replaced with another creature or enchantment that can make creatures unblockable.

2 x Eidolon of Countless Battles - I love this card in this deck because it can either be a creature or an aura. You will more likely than not use this card as an aura because it is possible to move it to Bruna, Light of Alabaster if its an aura. If this card is in your hand, graveyard or battlefield as a creature it will not be possible to enchant bruna when she attack or blocks. Gives a lot of power/toughness with its effect, so a very nive aura to have on the field. If you are completely creature starved you can cast it as creature, but thats not what you want to do.

2 x Heliod's Pilgrim - I needed more creatures in this deck, so i decided to look at creatures that could fetch aura's from my deck. This one seems to be the best for that. Not much to say about it, if you can play bruna in you next turn and equip Swiftfoot Boots so she gets haste you want to search for a big one like Eldrazi Conscription.

2 x Mesa Enchantress - Another card that helps speed up the deck. The good thing about this card is that the draw effect works with every enchantment, not just aura's. However it costs more than Kor Spiritdancer and doesnt give the bonus +2/+2 when enchanted. Thats why we only want 2 of these in here.

2 x Umbra Mystic - Just a nice card that makes your creatures nearly immortal. Everytime it wouldve died by effects that say "destroy" or by damage it will only remove 1 aura. However this is not a "must need" card in this deck. If I find a card that might be better in this deck, I will probably remove these.

ENCHANTMENTS

4 x Ethereal Armor - for 1 mana +1/+1 and first strike. That alone is a decent early game aura, but it gives an extra +1/+1 with each enchantment, not only aura's. So Detention Sphere and Thassa, God of the Sea also count. makes your creatures very strong.

3 x Daybreak Coronet - for 2 mana +3/+3, first strike, lifelink and vigilance. You ofcourse do need another aura on the creature before you can cast this but that wont really be a problem. Still i put 3 in instead of 4 because i did have some problems when i had 4 of these in.

3 x Detention Sphere - Strong removal thats also an enchantment. I think this deck needs some removal since its quite easy to deal with if the enemy get some decently strong creatures in the early-mid game before my deck really comes online.

2 x Angelic Destiny - Another strong aura, +4/+4 flying and first strike. And when the creature dies it goes back to my hand. Strong aura, I needed some aura's that would just give flat power/toughness and this one seemed to be very good for that. For 4 mana its just the right mana for it I think.

1 x Indestructibility - Just one of these for the indestructability, could be usefull, however since I already have Umbra Mystic who does the same, i am not sure if this card should stay in this deck.

2 x Eldrazi Conscription - The idea is not to cast these for their mana cost ever, either get them into play with Bruna, Light of Alabaster from your hand or graveyard or use Retether. Other than that the strongest aura in the game.

ARTIFACTS

3 x Swiftfoot Boots - This is a very important card in this deck, Makes your creatures that are enchant with a lot of aura's invinsible to removal. And since the power adn toughness of these creatures is ridiculous cause of all the aura's there is no chance that they will die ever. The haste component is most usefull for Bruna, Light of Alabaster since you want to attack with her as soon as possible.

SORCERIES

1 x Retether - Just one of these for if something goes wrong and you cant cast Bruna, Light of Alabaster yet. Only 4 mana so a pretty good spell.

OTHER WAYS TO RUN THIS KIND OF DECK

The way i see it, there are 2 ways to maybe make this deck work. One of them is what I have now, with a lot of card drawing and maybe a little bit of fetching. I also wanted to add Hero of Iroas but since it doesnt really work on any aura I have in the deck except Angelic Destiny since you dont really want it for the rest anyway, So i removed him.The other way is to mill yourself pretty hard and rely on cards like Bruna, Light of Alabaster, Retether and Nomad Mythmaker to get them back onto the field. You use cards like Forbidden Alchemy and Thirst for Knowledge to discard your aura's and later get them back on the field for way less mana than it actually costs. However this is a very difficult way to run this deck. Cards like Eidolon of Countless Battles , Kor Spiritdancer and Mesa Enchantress would lose its value since you won't really be casting them anymore so no card drawing (which you dont really need anyway with these blue slef draw/mill spells) and eidolon becomes useless since you cant use its bestow from a graveyard, its just a enchantment creature then. Maybe I will make a second version of this deck where I go this alternate route.

EDIT

Made the second version of the deck mentioned above, it didnt turn out too wel. Tried everything I could but I dont think its very viable. Its just so reliant on one combo and if you dont have 1 of the 10 cards you need to pull it off it fails. So I am now sure this version is better.
