If you have found this Legacy Cheerios deck than I am happy you did. This has recently become my favorite deck to play and it isn't easy finding other deck-list out there of Legacy Cheerios so hopefully this will be helpful to you and give you a good understanding. I am going to cover a lot so let this be informative. Thanks

What is Legacy Cheerios?

Legacy Cheerios is a deck that spams the battlefield with worthless creatures and most commonly wins using a card with the ability 'Storm' as in Grapeshot. Because the combo is huge and done in a single turn, 'Storm' is increased since the more cards you play in a turn, the more 'the storm' is multiplied and therefore increases it's affect. The goal is having a huge storm count in a single turn and winning that same turn so the deck has to be able to cast tons of things all at once, spell after spell. If drawing your entire deck into your hand on turn 1 sounds fun, this deck is for you. Even though this deck is extremely powerful, it is inconsistent. You will have winning streaks and losing streaks and sometimes one more than the other. Often times the deck will not do anything and you will just lose and often times the deck will blow-up and win on turn one. There is nothing in this deck that stops anything your opponent has. This deck is solely designed around itself and having the best odds possible to achieve the combo. This deck will enrage your opponent if you are on a winning streak and will depress you on a losing streak. It has every possibility to make the game not fun for your opponent and borders the degenerate side of Magic. Now that you are familiar with how the deck works and what kind of deck this is (combo) and it's possibilities of winning and losing, lets get to know how exactly the deck works and learn about the cards.

  • The Cards

Glimpse of Nature This is the main card in the deck. This is the central focus of the deck and the most important card hands down. You have to have this card to win and it has to resolve when cast. You cannot do anything efficiently with this deck without this card. This is the card that starts the combo. Because half the deck (more than half in my deck) consist of 0 cost creatures, this card makes the combo. Having so many 0 drop creatures in the deck, the odds of drawing another right after another IS THE COMBO and is what needs to be done. Draw a creature, play a creature and repeat as long as you can. This is the actual act of building the storm count. This is the first card that you cast when your ready to combo. Since the deck has no real way to ensure you will have this card in your opening hand, you will here others say that you need to mulligan until you have this card in hand. That is only partly true in my opinion. You wouldn't want to mulligan down to a single card even if it was Glimpse of Nature because then you would be even more screwed than only having 5 cards in hand and still not having it. At least if you mulligan down to 5 cards in hand and still don't have it, at least you still have other cards in hand so that when you do draw into it, you will be able to do something. If you mulligan all the way down you 100% wont do anything for a while. So mulligan until you have it is a bit misleading. I would would feel safe mulligan down to 5 and in worst case scenario maybe 4 if it was a critical game. You have to have some cards in hand for when you draw it because you have to combo.

Noxious Revival Could arguably be the second most important card in the deck. Having one of these in your opening hand is excellent if you have a Glimpse of Nature and two mana sources like Elvish Spirit Guide or Lotus Petal. The reason being, if you have two mana sources in hand along with a Glimpse of Nature and a Noxious Revival, you can cast Glimpse of Nature twice right off the bat. It would go like this - Use a mana souce to cast Glimpse of Nature. It can be a land, a Lotus Petal or even a Elvish Spirit Guide. After you cast it, immediately pay two life and cast Noxious Revival to put Glimpse of Nature back on top of your library. Play a free creature and immediately get Glimpse of Nature back. Use your second mana source and cast Glimpse of Nature again. Now you have x2 card draw every time you play a creature (remember you already cast it once and it's still in effect). This will immediately double your chance of winning and it only cost 2 mana and 2 life which is ridiculously low for doubling your chances of winning. Who wouldn't do that!? The best part is, this can be done no matter how far you are into the combo. It can be done before doing anything else or it can be done after drawing X amount of cards. Make sure not to brick this particular combo though, you need at least 2 creatures in hand for this to work. One creature is used to get it back off the top of your deck and the other creature is used to keep the combo going after you cast Glimpse of Nature a second time. Bricking (making a misplay) at this stage is critical and will usually leave you dead in the water if you don't watch out. Glimpse of Nature and Noxious Revival together are an EXTREMELY powerful combo.

Scapegoat Is another critical card in the deck. You won't always reach full combo and sometimes you will hit a wall/dead end. When you hit that wall and don't know what to do, it's Scapegoat time. Scapegoat literally resets the combo and lets you start all over. Say for example in your combo you were able to play 6 creatures and then you don't draw another, it would seem that the combo is over but it's not. During your combo of drawing and playing, you hopefully drew into this card and another mana source. Maybe you already had them in hand, it doesn't matter. Just use a mana source and play Scapegoat. You have to sacrifice a creature but you get to bring all the rest back to your hand. This is great for running in to a dead-end. After-all, you still have the affect of Glimpse of Nature since this is all still the same turn were talking about and the creatures are free to play and playing them again means more draw. So if you play 6 creatures, that is 6 cards drawn. Cast Scapegoat sac 1 and bring 5 to your hand and you can play them again. That is 11 creatures instead of the dead-end 6 you thought you had. I have seen 2-4 of these run in various decks. The choice is yours. Just tinker around and see what you like best. Scapegoat is a must in this deck.

  • Mana

All mana sources in the deck produce mana of any color except for Elvish Spirit Guide. If possible always use Elvish Spirit Guide before using any other mana source. The reason being is that you want to save your mana sources that produce any color for the end when your ready to cast your win conditions. This allows more room to have different win conditions of different colors. Also conserve mana if possible. If you can achieve full combo with a small amount of mana than do so. You never know when and how you will need to use mana so save it.
