I am new to paper mtg and this is my first ever paper magic deck.

I have played a bunch of arena and hit mythic in RNA. As I am new to paper I don't have much of a collection to draw from to put into the deck so most of this has been bought singles wise. Currently working on making the deck more consistent and there is a LOT I have to do to get it to that point.

Here's the combo:

Activate Proteus Staff on Elsha.

With no creatures in your deck, you get to put Elsha back onto the battlefield and stack the rest of your deck.

Stack your deck as such (from the top down):

Gitaxian Probe to draw into a counterspell for hand)

Any counterspell (Looking to get a pact of negation)

Mox Amber + Sol Ring + Lotus Petal + Jeweled Amulet (or any combination of 5+ mana of mana- positive rocks) Brainstorm (any cantrip) Dramatic Reversal Isochron Scepter Aetherflux Reservoir Sensei's Divining Top (backup kill to draw your deck for Jace, Wielder of Mysteries if Aetherflux Reservoir isn't going to work) Other counterspells or whatever

After deck is stacked:

Cast Gitaxian Probe , getting Counterspell into your hand

Cast your mana rocks

Cast the cantrip, getting Dramatic Reversal into your hand

Cast Isochron Scepter , imprinting Dramatic Reversal

Activate Isochron Scepter , untapping the rocks and Scepter itself. Repeat for infinite mana and storm.

Cast Aetherflux Reservoir

Activate Isochron Scepter again, gaining infinite life from Reservoir

Death Star Laser

BACKUP LINE

Sensei's Divining Top + Cloud Key = Draw deck at instant speed** After you draw the deck play Jace, Wielder of Mysteries to win.

I am currently in Uni and definitely don't have 2k or even 100$ to drop on this deck.

Because of this I usually go to draft and use my winnings to get some upgrades for my deck. Luckily I live about 20 mins away from the Card Kingdom HQ store in the seattle area meaning any card I want I can place an order for and pick up in store.

Multiple good cheap cards >>> 1 expensive card

Since this deck is still in its infancy and is not tuned yet there are a lot of "dead cards" that are just strictly worse then other cheap counterparts. If I had to choose between a Cyclonic Rift or 3 sub 10$ staples that need to go in eventually anyways, I would rather pick the latter short term as that will help in the meantime to make the deck more consistent.
