Yet another Legacy elf combo/ramp deck. Can quickly release a horde of elves by turn three, or ramp into an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Banefire just as fast.

Ideally, you can play most of your library by using Glimpse of Nature, coupled with Heritage Druids ability to tap elves for mana. Add into the mix Nettle Sentinel s, which untap every time you play a green spell, and you can see how quickly things can explode.

Wirewood Symbiote to untap Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruids for more mana.

Quirion Ranger for the same reason as above.

Just to be on the safe side, I added a little tech in the form of Green Sun's Zenith.

Regal Force, for massive card draw. always nice when you have a billion mana.

KorApprentice says... #1

Why do you only have 2x Priest of Titania ?

Vorxis says... #2

... because i've tested it with more, and it doesn't seem to run as well. I know, it's weird.

KorApprentice says... #3

Well, I can actually see why you don't need 4x, it makes sense to me now after I playtested the deck.

January 16, 2012 6:32 p.m.

Vorxis says... #4

The deck seems to consistently churn out a win by turn four, but i'm having trouble improving it from here. I can't squeeze any more speed out of it.

This is cool. +1. I have a Modern deck that plays a lot like this. Arbustus.

cool. This is my first deck in a while to be honest, i've been out of the loop for a while.

I love this concept, but it needs more huge greatures. Banefire wins games, so you need 4 of the. Also add more of the giant eldrazis. The two best winning cards in this deck have only one copy, so why is that? i see no need for misty rainforest at all, so maybe add a more land for red and green mana if you can. the idea of a huge burn spell is great, you could even add devil's play for more of it!

@ cartwheelnurd: Adding more large creatures would slow the deck down considerably, as would adding more Banefire s. The purpose of the deck is to play pretty much the entire deck by turn 3-4. Even if I don't pull out the wins, I could easily swamp the board with an unstoppable army of weeneie elves for the win.

Misty Rainforest is in the deck for two reasons. It helps to thin the deck slightly, and also lets me pull out a Taiga , so I can cast Banefire without having to rely on Birchlore Rangers being in play. any more land would also slow the deck down, as the point of the deck is to play your creatures with the card draw that Glimpse of Nature gives you.

I'm going to update the description section of the deck so that people are less confused as to what type of deck this is. It's not an aggro deck, it uses cheap synergistic elves to combo out a win.

Having said that, Thanks for the votes, I appreciate it.

... Is an amazing shout, i'll definitely playtest it and see how it goes.

having said that, Banefire can't be countered if it's damage is equal to or greater than 5. storm decks get hosed if your opponent has a counterspell at the right time.

DRex85 says... #12

Nice one... just playtested it and had a turn 4 win by Emrakul after softening the opponent with Banefire in turn 3... (and yeah, I could have ended it in turn 3, but it's just part of the fun taking an extra turn by playing a creature like Emrakul...)

Only trouble I had was getting the mana needed before the deck ran out, due to Glimpse of Nature ...

But I would still have had a massive creature base, that could have ended it all in turn four... if my opponent doesn't have a pyroclasm or something like that... so I was thinking, maybe a Coat of Arms just for backup, in case you have to let your opponent have an extra turn...

But still... nice work with this deck... like how it plays... :)

Mana really shouldn't be a problem, with Birchlore Rangers and Heritage Druid in the deck. Maybe It's just me being lucky, but I don't have mana issues the vast majority of the time.

However, Coat of Arms is interesting. Will maybeboard it for now, with Grapeshot

Chord of CallingMTG Card: Chord of Calling would be better in this deck than green sun's.

Awesome deck! Just playtested it a couple of times, and I had trouble getting mana in my opening hand on a few occasions, but after I did, this deck preformed amazingly! The only problem I ran into was drawing too much. Nearly milled myself, had to draw 20 cards with only 21 left >.> Still amazing! +1

Vorxis says... #20

Genesis WaveMTG Card: Genesis Wave sounds cool, but it doesn't interact with Glimpse of NatureMTG Card: Glimpse of Nature for the card draw, and will kill all non creature spells that you would pull out with it, making Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms and BanefireMTG Card: Banefire useless. it would also negate Emrakul, the Aeons TornMTG Card: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn casting ability - the free extra turn.

@ UniTheDino: did you cast more than one Glimpse of NatureMTG Card: Glimpse of Nature in the same turn, or use Regal ForceMTG Card: Regal Force when you already had a bunch of creatures out? I've never run into this problem so far.

January 25, 2012 2:31 a.m.

UniTheDino says... #21

Haha, yeah I did. Just thought I'd bring it up though :P. I'm sure this would never be a problem if you're playing it properly, I was just having some fun and ended up almost decking myself.

Also, Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms, assuming you paid enough for X, does go into play with Genesis WaveMTG Card: Genesis Wave.

i had my doubts, but after a few play tests, and an almost certain win if you have banefire in your hand by turn 3, i would +1 twice if i could.

@ UniTheDino: You are correct and I need glasses, Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms would go into play. My bad.

@ yellatme123: Cheers fella... +1 just the once would be cool enough though!

Slate of AncestryMTG Card: Slate of Ancestry would help you out quite a bit if you ever found yourself slow on draw.

January 25, 2012 5:23 p.m.

Vorxis says... #25

Sounds like it would work. I don't know if it's just me, but draw is hardly ever a problem for me - one in ten games, maybe. as soon as you hit a Glimpse of NatureMTG Card: Glimpse of Nature, you can pretty much play your library in one hit.

How about Staff of DominationMTG Card: Staff of Domination? With a few elves (4) and Priest of TitaniaMTG Card: Priest of Titania out, you can get infinite draw, untapping life gain, and tapping down.

Also, I found that I never really needed Coat of Arms. Every time I would play it, I can just keep ramping into Emrakul or something else, and I never used it. Would be insane, but I didn't need it.

January 30, 2012 9:52 p.m.

I'll maybeboard Staff of DominationMTG Card: Staff of Domination for now, as it's an interesting possibility. I'd have to see what could be taken out of the deck to fit it in though.

Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms, believe it or not, is there more as protection against spells such as PyroclasmMTG Card: Pyroclasm. Most of the elves in the deck are 1/1, and even with Elvish ArchdruidMTG Card: Elvish Archdruids, the creatures look flimsy.

how about Door of DestiniesMTG Card: Door of Destinies? not as immediate as Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms but really good in early game with a deck like this.

January 31, 2012 12:45 p.m.

Vorxis says... #33

It's ok, but if it pops into my hand late game and i've played most of my elves, it won't have the punch the Coat of ArmsMTG Card: Coat of Arms would. I agree that in the early game it can be obscene though!

well, i got a glimpse running through 2/3ds of my deck on turn 3, unfortunately, I ran out of green creatures to play, no emrakul in sight, tiaga tapped, all 4 symbiote triggers returning visionary to my hand, so it had to do it on turn 4.

That was just bad luck though. +1

Have you considered having some Dismember in the sideboard? Because cards like Linvala, Keeper of Silence will shut down your deck instantly.

January 10, 2013 1:04 a.m.

Vorxis says... #39

It's a good shout tbh. I haven't updated the deck in a while, so it might be behind on the meta. However, unless my opponent is playing ramp with Linvala, Keeper of Silence , I can't see a situation where they could drop one before the combo goes off.
