Once I saw Teysa Karlov , I immediately knew that I had to upgrade and refocus this deck. With that in mind, this deck is all about getting the most value as creatures die by abusing Dies/Death Triggers. This deck is loaded with Death Triggers and ways to control when your stuff dies with Sacrifice Effects and Outlets. Since we know our creatures are going to the graveyard, there is a large graveyard recursion package included in this deck.

Death Triggers

There are 23 Death Triggers in this deck including the Elenda, the Dusk Rose .

The most useful may be the Grave Pact effects with Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos . With the large amount of sacrifice effects/outlets included in this deck, these effects can keep the board clear of most threats and at the same time power up Elenda.

Next up are the Aristocrats. Can't get through with an attack because someone has a pillow-fort. Then rely on Blood Artist , Massacre Wurm and Zulaport Cutthroat to get the job done.

Get more value out of Elenda dying with cards like Blade of the Bloodchief , Murder Investigation , and Sadistic Glee . The rest are synergies to either draw cards, make tokens as fodder, ramp, and one graveyard recursion with Athreos, God of Passage .

Sacrifice Effects and Outlets

In order to abuse all these Death Triggers, you need to be able to control when and how your creatures leave the board. Instant speed, free sacrifice outlets are engine that make this deck hum. Someone targets Elenda with a Swords to Plowshares , respond by sacrificing her to Ashnod's Altar or any of the 5 other instant speed, free sacrifice outlets in the deck. In addition to free sacrifice outlets, there are 7 other permanent and repeatable sacrifice outlets, and 4 one time sacrifice effects. The ability to sacrifice your creatures and reap the benefits on your terms is the power of this deck.

Graveyard Recursion

Since we are putting all our creatures into the Graveyard, we need a way to reuse and abuse them again. There are 11 Graveyard recursion effects in this deck. The best of them are the repeatable effects with cards like Haunted Crossroads , Hell's Caretaker , Phyrexian Reclamation , Sheoldred, Whispering One , and Whisper, Blood Liturgist . With cards like these, it is easy to get back Elenda or any other useful creature you need.

Forced Sacrifice

Not only does this deck take advantage of your creatures dying, it actively wants your opponents creatures to die. There are 9 ways to force your opponents to sacrifice creatures. This does not include any board wipes. Archfiend of Depravity , Fleshbag Marauder , Merciless Executioner , and Plaguecrafter are just a few ways to force people to sacrifice their creatures. Vona's Hunger is an absolute all-star in this category. It very easy to get the City's Blessing. Once you have 10 permanents on the board, Vona's Hunger becomes an instant speed engine of death. Someone just made 100 tokens and need one more turn to start killing people, cast Vona's Hunger just before your turn. Reap all the death triggers and most likely win the the game on your turn. With Revel in Riches out, you would just simply win the game on your upkeep.

Combos and Synergies

There are few combos included in this deck. They have been included to get around the pillow-fort players or beat other combo players at there game. I use these when something like a Niv-Mizzet, Parun is about to go off on the table. So in no particular order:

Phyrexian Altar + Bontu's Monument + Oathsworn Vampire = Infinite drain all opponents

Elenda, the Dusk Rose with at least 4 power + Phyrexian Altar + Teysa Karlov + Planar Void = Infinite Death Triggers, Infinite Tokes, and a Infinitely Large Elenda

Note: I on purpose did not include any 2 card combos that straight up win the game. This may not be all the possible combos.

Some synergies include Hatred . Attack with Elenda. If she goes unblocked cast Hatred . Make her really big. Lose life to the cost, but gain it right back with her life link. Before the end of your turn sacrifice Elenda to make a large number of untapped tokens. Be careful with this play. A well timed counterspell will cause you to lose the life without any of the gain. So be judicious with how much life you pay into this and be aware of your opponents board states.

Teysa Karlov is a new addition and enables all sorts of fun in this deck. The deck was completely retooled with her in mind.

Hope you like this deck and come to see the power of sacrificing your own creatures for value.
