Sideboard

Maybeboard

Azorius control/reanimator deck that with an Evangelion Theme. The Eldrazi itself are already like the twisted angels from the series. Add the subtype "angel" to a creature worthy of being the boss of a Dark Souls game, and one is forced to make a deck inspired on that.

PS: Since tappedout doesnt allow the angels to flip, the Brisela, Voice of Nightmares represents a second Bruna, the Fading Light

Please, I need help polishing the control spells and mana base, specially the amount that i should have of each one.

Also, any suggestion for the sideboard is welcomed.

**

Main plan:

**

Control the board until you can assemble the combo Bruna, the Fading Light + Gisela, the Broken Blade to form Brisela, Voice of Nightmares. Proceed to win and heal back.

**

Early game:

**

Stall: Use Ethereal Haze to delay their attacks, bounce and counter with Vapor Snag, Echoing Truth, Spell Snare and Mana Leak

**

Mid game:

**

Reset the board! Just when the opponent thought they could stabilize, make them feel the wrath of god. Use Supreme Verdict and Whelming Wave on their ammassed army.

Next, you want to have all of your combo pieces. To do that, we have the following tools:

Serum Visions: Draw + scry 2. Damn good card.

Thalia's Lancers: Tutors both our angels and legendary lands. Their first strike ability is useful to avoid them to trade damage and die.

Gisela, the Broken Blade: Great card on its own. Her lifelink gives us some air mid game to recover from the damage taken early game.

Bruna, the Fading Light: Her ability to also revive a human allows you to fetch the lancers in case you dont have Gisela in the GY, so you can utilize them to fetch her.

Gifts Ungiven: Allows us to fetch the whole combo, no matter what the opponent choses to send to the GY.

The four cards one should always tutor by default are Gisela, the Broken Blade + Bruna, the Fading Light + Noxious Revival + Resurrection.

With those cards, no matter what they chose to send to the GY, you can always get them back to the BF.

Ex. 1: both angels are sent to the GY. Use Resurrection to revive Bruna, the Fading Light, then put Gisela, the Broken Blade on top of your library with Noxious Revival

Ex 2: Bruna and Resurrection are sent to the gy. Play Gisela. Use Noxious Revival to get either Bruna or Resurrection.

Always try to cheat Bruna for 4 mana with Resurrection rather than pay her manacost (7).

Ex 3: They let you keep both angels. This is actually the worst case scenario, since you will have to wait to get 7 mana to play Bruna (suposing you play a T4 Gifts).

Always play Gisela first. She will tend to draw hate (she is boltable too) on her. But you dont care, since you can revive it later with Bruna.

Logic Knot: A one-of. Bad early game, but late game, with all the spells in our GY, it becomes a Counterspell.

**

Late game:

**

Lock the opponent with Brisela, Voice of Nightmares and beath them with her and Celestial Colonnade.

**

Card analysis

**

Flagstones of Trokair: can be fetched with Thalia's Lancers in case i need another land. I know that there are other cheaper legendary lands, but i like the art on this one. Plus, it is useful against land destruction.

Spreading Seas: Manascrew those shocklands + draw. Very useful against TRON. Plus, the flavor (Antartic melt)

Supreme Verdict: The second impact! It has a cross and everything in the art! Just wipe them uncounterably.

Serum Visions: The pilots synchronizing with the EVAs. Draw and scry for your combo pieces.

overwhelming wave: Again, the rise of the sea level due to the Second Impact. Reset the board.

Celestial Colonnade: the promo version looks kinda like Adan. Use it as a beat stick.

The lands:

Hallowed Fountain: The RTR version, with the high steel walls, resembles Tokyo 3.

Most of them have some kind of futuristic/devastation flavor:

Seachrome Coast; Adarkar Wastes; Flooded Strand (onslaught version)

**

Sideboard:

**

Spellskite: Because Spellskite. Seriously, good against pump decks (auras, infect, blizzet), provides a nice body to block, and the art kinda suits the theme.

Leyline of Sanctity: Against mill, burn, card-removal and discard. Extremely important to protect our combo.

Ghostly Prison and Blind Obedience: To stall and buy us time. Good against aggro decks with hasty creatures or swarm. The latter also provides some lifegain through its extort ability.

Hallowed Moonlight: Against tokens, CoCo and similar swarm strategies. Plus, draw. Plus, holy themed.

Stony Silence: Against affinity. Also protects our GY from Tormod's Crypt and Relic of Progenitus (as long as we play it first).

Suppression Field: Reminds me of the NERVE HQs displaying an AT field.Against combos like Kiki, infinite mana, elves, etc.

Tormod's Crypt: Against graveyard decks (dredge, reanimator, etc). Is the only card i found that is cheap and doesnt mess around with our GY.

What fucks you up:

Exile: You cant revive them.

Graveyard hate: the same problem here.

Card removal, like Surgical Extraction.

I am not used to play control decks, so I need suggestions on polishing the manabase, the amount of each card that i should add, and the sideboard that i could use.

This deck is meant to be played amongst friends, using semi-budget decks (this one would be the most expensive, i believe). A lot of times we play multiplayer free-for-all. None of them have expensive cards like Blood Moon, tarmogyf, Snapcaster Mage, etc. So the sideboard is more focused against strategies rather than specific cards (in case you suggest me anything).

Also, I am dubious between adding Disenchant or Revoke Existence. which one is usually better? One gives you instant speed, but the other exiles...Moreover, I am even thinking on just adding a couple of Erase, since Stony Silence and Hurkyl's Recall already cover the artifacts.

Finally, I don't want this deck to end as a typical UW shell like Emeria/titan Control, or a Ionia/Elesh norn reanimate deck. I want to keep it flavorfull and original, at least in its core.

Advices are really welcomed!
