Elder Scrolls EDH

Commander / EDH

chrislauer45

This is a project to bring the lore of Elder Scrolls: Skyrim into an EDH deck. I have categorized the deck into a few subthemes to make deckbuilding easier:

  1. Factions

    • One creature

    • One signature spell

  2. Dragonborn + Shouts

  3. Daedric Artifacts

  4. Alduin's Wall

  5. The Elder Scroll

There are some nonflavor subthemes to keep the deck functional:

  1. ramp

  2. dragons + dragon synergies

Where each card fits into the subthemes:

  1. Imperial Legion--------Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero--------World at War

Alduin's Wall

I am splitting the wall into 5 segments, each telling a different part of history

  1. Part 1: Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund
  2. Part 2: Descent of the Dragons
  3. Part 3: The Ur-Dragon
  4. Part 4: Planar Bridge
  5. Part 5: Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon

The tl;dr of Alduin's Wall kinda follows like this: parts 1 and 2 depict the Dragon War, part 3 depicts Alduin getting f*cked on by the Blades, part 4 shows a couple messes like the Oblivion Crisis, and part 5 shows the Dragonborn fighting Alduin.

The Elder Scroll : Scroll of Fate

The rest of the deck has ramp and miscellaneous dragons that help the deck get off to a good start and stay strong.

The initial reason I chose Morophon, the Boundless as my commander was because I wanted to have an alter of it being the Dragonborn because he techically is the only human/dragon card that is legendary, but it can go so many ways. Since is a Changeling, he kind of fits into the "be what you wanna be" style of the Elder Scrolls series. If you want to be an Orc Wizard that focuses on shouts and magic, he is that. If you want to be an Imperial that uses Daedric Artifacts to dominate your foes, he is that. He is metaphorically the perfect commander to depict an open world RPG.

sidenote: Kargan Dragonlord is an honorable mention as the Dragonborn bc he is cool and levels up.
