Maybeboard

Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer

This statement evokes the feeling of this deck in a single sentence. Edric is meant to be played in a playgroup with three or more other players so you have a good selection of people to swindle, persuade, cajole, and other fancy words politicians use. This is a budget brew, meaning there is room to improve (especially on the lands), but for what you are spending, you get a load of fun and a lifetime of treaties and favors.

Playstyle

The effectiveness of this deck heavily depends on how well you can make your opponents not want to kill you. a lot of playing this deck involves playing the other players at the table to find someone else to swing at, even if you have little or no defenses of your own. In fact, there is a good chance you will be the weakest one at the table. But fear not, with political tools Sylvan Offering and Intellectual Offering , you can turn your enemies to friends in an instant, and have them swinging into the other bigger threats at the table. Punishing players who may not be so easy to dissuade can be done with cards like Curse of Predation . If you don't like talking to other people and enjoy a fast aggro deck, Edric isn't for you. However, if you like manipulating your friends to kill each other, you found just the deck.

Modification

If you want you change up your games with Edric, you can swap cards in the 99 with one of the cards from the maybeboard for different match-ups and scenarios to play out. These cards fit the theme of the deck as well as fit the budget, so I highly recommend trying some of them out for yourself. The maybeboard also lists cards in these colors that can board wipe, allowing a more hostile approach to defending yourself. They don't fit the overall goals of Edric, which is to make friends, but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.
