Edric, Disgraced Spymaster

Commander / EDH

almace

This is my take on Edric's journey to become the undisputed spymaster of Trest.

Disclaimer: I stole a lot of this (in terms of basic concept) from a Reddit thread made by /u/sneakyspah. Find the original thread here: thread

As in the Zurgo deck, a series of restrictions will be placed on the initial deck: only Modern-legal commons are allowed for nonland cards, and only basics are allowed for lands.

/u/sneakyspah was able to flavorfully capture the progress of Zurgo: Zurgo gained respect as he delivered finishing blows to his opponents, gradually upgrading his arsenal. Unlike Zurgo, Edric doesn't care about delivering the finishing blow to his opponents. Edric cares about gathering information, which is represented rather well on his card. During each game, Edric will earn points every time a card draw is triggered by one of his creatures dealing damage (This includes his ability as well as triggered abilities such as Stealer of Secrets or Bident of Thassa. Combat damage by Edric will count as well). The number of card draws required for each point will start at 5 and increase by 1 for every game after the first. The exception will be if not enough cards are drawn to get a single point in a game. In that case, the cost will not increase. 1 point will also be rewarded for each time Edric or one of his spies deals the finishing blow to an opponent. The points can be spent in various ways:

-1 point to upgrade a card from Modern- to Legacy-legal

-1 point to upgrade a card from Legacy- to EDH-legal

-1 point to upgrade a basic land to a non-basic common land

-1 point to upgrade a card's rarity by 1 (Common -> Uncommon -> Rare -> Mythic)

-1 point to have me purchase the card if I don't already own it :(

-1 point to make the card fancy (foreign, full-art, foil, etc.)

I will keep this list updated with the current progress.
