Finally managed to get a real first game in —Oct. 13, 2017

It took a really really really long time, mostly due to me having a new job, but when my group finally managed to come together on Friday I had Licia ready to rumble!

It was a 4-player game with my opponents playing a lifegain/vampire token based Edgar Markov, a zombie/mill based Taigam, Sidisi's Hand, and a Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist/Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa partner deck.

I started off poorly with little ramp, some high CMC cards, but I had all the colors so I kept it anyway. Ended up playing Queen Marchesa early and did benefit from the monarch for a while. I didn't draw my lifegain at all, so it took a long time before I managed to get Licia into the field, but she survived the round. I cast Chandra's Ignition (perhaps a little too early, but it was in my opening hand and meh), which hit 12 damage (Orzhov Advokist + (2x 5 life)) on 10 creatures and 3 players, giving me +156 life and wiped the board, after which I swung at the Vampire player for 12 CMD damage.

This made me the threat.

I had ~ 196 life or something at that point and a 12/12 commander. So I can sorta get what they were thinking, but I didn't manage to draw into anything really substantial in the next few rounds.

Did grab my Necropotence and ended up using that to filter through ~ 40 cards but I couldn't get past the defenses of the Vampire player - who was really the only other threat.. and who ended up winning. (Dude blocked my Prowler's Helm'ed +6'ed Licia with a Mutavault ._. ). The other two players didn't really manage to come off the ground after my Chandra wipe and Killing Wave.

Mana was a big problem, I made a big jump with the lifegain but I didn't get enough mana in play so my momentum screeched to a halt. If I hadn't become the threat early onward I might have been able to take it easier and build a little bit more, so I'm a little pissed at myself for making the choice to kick things off with ignition.

Aside from that, the deck is a beast. Licia tears everything apart but becoming unblockable is an issue. Before I managed to equip Prowler's Helm I enchanted her with Unquestioned Authority but when I swung someone Swords to Plowshares'ed my Licia so I had to save her with Shelter and then my Authority disappeared... Might put Trailblazer's Boots or even Whispersilk Cloak in for more unblockable.
