Gr8 deck, some nice cards that I hadn't considered for mine.

Here's a few suggestions from me: Steely Resolve hexproof spiders!, Parallel Evolution more tokens, Blighted Woodland another sac land towards delirium, Svogthos, the Restless Tomb take advantage of the spiders in your graveyard, and lastly Praetor's Counsel because sometimes you want to return all those goodies in your graveyard to hand, even though it will force you to start over with delirium - at least you'll have a hand full of spiders to keep casting. I also highly recommend Assault Formation, if you run out of steam, you can pump up all your spiders with your extra mana to block bigger dragons or plow through angels.

If you want to take a look at my version, here it is Necrotic Arachnidism - Tribal Spiders!. I tried to supply some deadly deathtouch venom to help deter attackers and set up my board with spiders for Ish's spider smackdowns. Feedback welcome.

Thanks for the comments and the upvotes!

@HOPMONSTER: Thanks for the suggestions, I've put some thought into them all.

Steely Resolve will prevent me from using my own spells and abilities on Ishkanah (It gives Shroud, not Hexproof). Asceticism would be better for what you have in mind. Alternatively, I could take back my Lightning Greaves to protect Ishkanah.. I will think on this some more.

Parallel Evolution: I hadn't seen this card before! I'll put it in my maybeboard along with Praetor's Counsel and Blighted Woodland. However, I'd probably first go for the cycle lands Tranquil Thicket and Barren Moor before adding more sac lands because of the 'draw a card', which becomes repeatable with Life from the Loam.

Svogthos, the Restless Tomb: seems a bit expensive for a creature I probably won't manage to get very big (I haven't managed to put that many spiders into my graveyard yet). If I had more aggressive self-mill, this would be a good card.

Assault Formation: I'm conflicted about this card. It seems good, but the second ability that buffs your creatures is too expensive in my opinion.. would be better if it gave trample too, and it depends completely on which spiders you have in play (If you do run this, maybe also include Tower Defense? ).

I'll take a look at your list :) I've played around with deathtouch a little bit in my earlier Ishkanah tryouts but ended up removing it.

Now Now, you do realise that Illusionist's Bracers states, "If it isn't a mana ability", so Ishkanah's lose life ability wont be cloned, I suggest removing it and replacing it with something in your maybeboard. I would say Konda's Banner

A 'mana ability' produces mana. Ishkanah, Grafwidow's ability is an 'activated ability'. Therefore, the bracers will work.

@onewhosees: I took Deadly Recluse out because, well.. something had to go and.. I didn't like the artwork :X He's still pretty functional though!

@Nerdsage & HOPMONSTER: I'm still conflicted about Assault Formation, but I've decided to take the plunge and give it a try. I've replaced Goliath Spider (7/6) with Juvenile Gloomwidow (1/3) to hopefully benefit more from the lower CMC (8 -> 2) and the bigger bonus from a possible assault formation (-1 -> +2).

@Quicksilver: ehh You're right. Not only is it better because it has more diversity, it has a bit more flavor too as heroes are always killing spiders >:(.

Thanks for the feedback and the upvotes :)

I know this is eight legged overlord tribal, but if you are open to the idea of playing a non spider (heresy I know), then Grim Flayer seems like it would be ideal for this deck. His ability, in my mind, is a delirium version of Sensei's Divining Top. It would smooth out draws, act as another outlet to selectively set up delirium, and would be a decent bottom curve creature that stays somewhat relevant as you go into the midgame. Also Top would be a good include to help with the selective milling/drawing. I know it's a very diversifying card with some hating it and some loving it, but I just like it in most EDH decks.

Couldn't agree more, and I actually got a Grim Flayer promo at the prerelease, built my best prerelease set so far around him.. but this is indeed strictly spiders.

I had considered Top previously.. not sure why I forgot about it, guess I got distracted by all the other goodies. :)

Have you thought about adding in the green Leylines? Leyline of Vitality gives your bulky spiders more bulk and gives you life when they enter. Leyline of Lifeforce makes it so then you spiders can be shot out of existence before they appear.

I'd like to amend the last sentence of the last comment. Was typing faster than thinking:Leyline of Lifeforce makes it so then your spiders can not be shot out of existence before they appear.

Ah Thanks! I'll give them some thought :) Haven't played against a lot of counters yet but might be useful to have around.

Wow this deck is excellent, great work all around!

1 question though: Wouldn't equipping Ishkanah with Blade of Selves invoke the legend rule, thus killing her? If I understand correctly...she would enter play, you'd still get the tokens from the Myriad effect, but then once that resolves she would legend away? Please educate me if I am incorrect, I run the Blade of Selves in my Ishkanah deck and would LOVE for her survive the legend/myriad problem.

As it is, you can still equip the Blade of Selves to any ol' spider, get the tokens during combat, and activate her ability for extra damage.

Again, great work! =)

The legend rule wouldn't kill Ishkanah, Grafwidow because you're allowed to pick which oneof the legendary permanents you wish to remain. Though I believe that since the copies would have to enter the battlefield before a selection could be made to sacrifice that her token ability would transfer on each of the myriad clones.

"If you play a second, or one comes into play under your control for another reason (such as an Oblivion Ring leaving play), you will choose which one you wish to retain. "Taken from magic the gathering official website
