Duskmantle Milled-Mage

The Purpose

The Purpose

I have been on a quest to build a series of decks that win using each part of the board. For this, I wanted to win with the Library, so of course, I went for mill.

This mill deck is a PRETTY DANG BRUTAL one though, as it's only real method of milling is the Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank infinite combo. This combo not only mills your opponent to 0 immediately, but also demolishes their life total all the way down to 0 at the same time. So they either lose by mill, or lose by life loss, whichever happens first. The rest of the deck is centered around setting the combo up and keeping you safe in the meantime. So let's take a look at the rest of the deck.

Codex Shredder

• This is what you will use to activate the the combo. The thing is, you can set up the combo, but your opponent still needs to either mill or lose life for it to actually activate. Codex Shredder here is your on switch. Use Duskmantle Guildmage 's first mana ability, then tap this, someone dies.
• The second ability can get your stuff back if you NEED it. It's expensive, though.

Dimir Infiltrator

• THIS. IS. A. TUTOR. It's primary function is to get either Duskmantle Guildmage or Mindcrank out of the library if you didn't draw both parts of the combo naturally. So DON'T PLAY IT AS A CREATURE.
• Unless you have to... it does make a decent creature.
• BUT IT SHOULD REALLY BE USED FOR TUTORING.

Duskmantle Guildmage

• Ahh, part one of this big stupid infinite combo. Its that first mana ability you want to be activating. Do this while both this, and Mindcrank are out. Then you need to get your opponent to put something in the graveyard or lose life somehow. Then, they're dead.
• Don't attack or block with this unless it's a life or death kind of situation. It's a very necessary component to this deck.

Fatal Push

• Kill card. That is all.

Fog Bank

• I LOVE this thing. One of my all time ultimate favorite cards. SO under-rated. This guy will serve as your blocker while you set up your combo, and he will serve you well. No creature can find it's way through the fog bank.

Mana Leak

• Counterspell. Nothing to interesting.

Mindcrank

• Now, this IS something interesting. This is the second part of your infite combo. Use this with the first mana ability of Duskmantle Guildmage . There isn't a whole lot you need to worry about here. You just play this, and it'll do it's thing.

Robe of Mirrors

• Bit of an unusual choice, but hey, unusual is what makes this game fun. This card is basically here to protect your Duskmantle Guildmage should something threaten it.
• You can also use this to make your Fog Bank a literally indestructible blocking nightmare for your opponents.

Sinister Possession

• Helps keep your enemies at bay for a few turns while you set stuff up. Fog Bank can make their attacks not really go anywhere, but THIS will make them not want to attack at all!

Supernatural Stamina

• Saves your Duskmantle Guildmage 's sorry little blue butt if he every gets in trouble.
