Duel Deck for 4: Fun and Affordable!

Casual Casual

ryancsaxe

4 decks designed to play against each other in both 1v1 and double headed giant! The decks are inexpensive (Between 20-40$ TCG low) and lots of fun to play. When I build casual decks, I always give myself restrictions. Here were the rules/restrictions:

  • Each deck contains only one rare, and 4 of it. The deck must stay in the color Identity of the rare (unlike commander, hybrid and alternative costs are fine).
  • Each deck contains at least one TimeSpiral FutureShifted card, and exactly 3 total. (note that the original rarity of the card is irrelevant).
  • Each deck can use only one non-basic land, and up to 4 of it.
  • Each of the five colors must be represented in at least one deck.
  • Each deck should be somewhat inexpensive (<50$)

And these are the decks I came up with accompanied by their rare and a brief description:

Duel Deck Mono Blue Faeries

This deck is meant to be aggro control. The deck plays 12 counterspells, 4 of which are Spellstutter Sprite, and gains advantage through the tempo of denial.

This deck is also a balance between an aggro control list. With 10 kill spells and some discard to support a cheap and aggressive creature base, it can overwhelm fairly easily.

Duel Deck Gruul Beatdown

Boy does this deck hit hard! This is the simplest deck to play, but still has some cool interactions with Bloodbraid Elf and split cards. Every single creature is so the card above reads as "your team gets +2/+2".

Duel Deck Selesnya Madness

SCORE: 2 | 311 VIEWS

This deck is the hardest of the bunch to play, but playing it right is extremely rewarding. Utilizing your madness and flashback cards with the card above and Wild Mongrel is not easy and you will always have lots of decisions to make!

Currently this is still in testing. I would love opinions and card suggestions. Remember the restrictions though! +1 if you like.

Lastly, these decks will be altered to fix matchups on occasion. Each deck must have some sort of "out" to expected situations. This usually just means removal, but since double Scion of Oona can happen, each deck must have a way to wipe all 2/2s or bigger. I am content with most things about these decks other than using Claws of Wirewood in the deck, but it's all I could find. Let me know if there is a better option.

Also, if you come across any difficult situations or unbalanced match ups, please let me know. These should be more or less balanced. The purpose of this is to be able to play with your friends regardless of the cards they have and have fun games! Thanks.
