Ashiok, making exactly one person’s dreams come true since 2019!

This deck is very fun. The core idea, of course, is to use Ashiok to exile everything from our opponents’ graveyards before using our signature spell to bring back a giant threat on the cheap. Exactly which threat we get is pretty irrelevant, although I often like to lead off with Vilis, Broker of Blood if I have a choice. It can remove a small creature or two and can easily spiral into an insane number of cards. Also, it is an 8/8 flier. Not many things can tangle with it in combat.

Most of the deck is broken into three main categories: set-up, bombs, and control. Our little cantrips do a great job of setting up our hand and our graveyard in the first couple of turns. The bombs need to hit the grave as early as possible. We have a couple of cheap ways to mill ourselves as well as quite a few cheap discard enablers to get them our of our hand. We then cheat those into play via our signature spell or a few cards in the deck. I love Living Death here (enough so that I have considered making it the signature spell) as it wipes the board and the return effect is one-sided here. The control cards just pull their usual weight, making sure nothing goes too wrong. I’m not 100% sure on my control suite so suggestions are welcome!

Ashiok has been a favorite of mine ever since it was spoiled. As a Commander player, it just does so much for you, turning off all forms of tutors and graveyard shenanigans for everyone but yourself.

One point I am considering is which creature I want to return spells to my hand. I am currently running Vampire Charmseeker but have considered Scholar of the Ages as well. Thoughts?
