I did not realize how much fun it was to ruin someone's day at instant speed. This is a deck with tons of cantrips and card draw at instantaneous speed to storm into a Brain Freeze, then forcing your opponent to draw and lose.

This deck isn't about winning as fast as possible, but style.

You can win with just four lands, although I haven't really tried with less. The more lands you have, the better.

In response to someone's killer play, you can cast High Tides, then Turnabout and cantrip in response to it, draw more card advantage, rinse, lather, repeat, then storm into a Brain Freeze to mill your opponent's entire library... all at instant speed. And bonus points if you are able to do all this in response to a spell... that you can counter with a Dream Fracture and force them to draw a card from their now-empty library. (How fitting.) Or just use a Blue Sun's Zenith to force them to draw.

Your sideboard is just 15 more cards you can use, thanks to Cunning Wish.

And thanks to how the stack functions, you always win. =)

  • Brain Freeze: One of our key win conditions. Save this to mill away an entire library at the end of your shenanigans.
  • Brainstorm: Great for putting cards away for Impulse or Supreme Will to move to the bottom of your library.
  • Cunning Wish: A key card that lets you dig in your sideboard for what you need, right now.
  • Frantic Search: Free digging, plus if you have High Tide in effect...
  • Foil: Great way to... foil plans. You'll have plenty of cards in your hand to pitch for its alternative casting cost.
  • High Tide: A key card that increases the output of our Islands. Stack their effects. Great for Twincast.
  • Impulse: Great for digging past useless cards for High Tides and Turnabouts.
  • Meditate: Since we don't really need any more turns if we're stacking up, this is one of the best card draw spells ever.
  • Opt: Cheap cantrip that allows you to Scrye 1.
  • Remand: Cantrip counter that allows you to counter any problematic spells and more than likely, combo off on that same turn. You can also counter your own Brain Freeze if it is subject to a Flusterstorm, then recast it.
  • Supreme Will: Dual-use counterspell and Impulse.
  • Turnabout: A key card to help Reset your lands for another go at adding to your stack... and Storm count.
  • Twincast: Great for copying key spells like High Tide, Meditate, and Turnabout.

Wishlist:

Straight-up aggro meant to kill you in less than five turns will be a difficult matchup, like infect.

Cards like Thorn of Amethyst or Thalia, Guardian of Thraben can be problematic. Leyline of Sanctity and True Believer that give players hexproof can throw a wrench in the game, but you can bounce them. Arcane Laboratory and Chalice of the Void for 2 will just stop you dead.

Cutthroat land and hand destruction from the get-go can hamper efforts badly.

There's a possibility that you may run out of gas if your draws are bad, i.e. having no draw power, not drawing any High Tides, etc. Cunning Wish helps with grabbing a Meditate or Blue Sun's Zenith to hopefully yield what you need.

Inspired by Drew Levin's High Tide / Reset deck, found here.

Replace the Frantic Searches with Opt and Peek or some other cheap cantrip if you want this to be Legacy-legal.
