RETIRED THS BLK + KTK AND FRF

Sanctioned game record: 17-7-4

Clear the board until you can stick a threat that is sure to end the game in your favor. Feedback welcome and encouraged!

Mainboard

Anger of the Gods - Well positioned board wipe for tokens and small creatures.

Banishing Light - Can deal with any permanent on the board.

Bile Blight - Takes care of a lot of small threats and can clean up tokens.

Crackling Doom - One of the few sacrifice mechanics in standard that can also burn or damage a planeswalker.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion - One of the best win-cons in standard. Can also serve as removal.

Empty the Pits - A win-con that can really come out of nowhere.

End Hostilities - A larger scale board wipe.

Hero's Downfall - Removes almost any creature or a walker.

Liliana Vess - A surprisingly strong win-con. Can win solo or really push in a win with another win-con. Tutoring up Downfalls and Utter Ends can make sure you keep board control as another win-con takes control.

Magma Jet - Small amount of damage coupled with good draw fixing.

Murderous Cut - A good way to gain momentum back. Allows for a turn where you can clear the board and then have initiative.

Read the Bones - Gotta find the right cards. Without blue, this costs a little bit of life.

Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker - Works overtime as both removal and a win-con.

Sorin, Solemn Visitor - Produces threats while staying on the board. The opponent usually has to 2 for 1 this card.

Thoughtseize - You aren't playing black without Thoughtseize.

Utter End - Can remove any permanent forever.

Updates Add

Overall went 3-2. Wasn't too happy with my draws over the night, but I did learn some things about the deck and the new cards from FRF.

Round 1

Opponent: R/W Aggro

Game 1: I was getting burned out while maintaining board control, but dropped down a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and was able to end it faster than he could.

Game 2: Very one sided. He took a mulligan and I was able to punish with an early Thoughtseize and Rakshasa's Secret. Sorin, Solemn Visitor and Elspeth, Sun's Champion then cleaned up.

Round 2

Opponent: B/G Midrange Manifest

Game 1: I got stalled on 1 red and couldn't cast Anger of the Gods and Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker when I needed to.

Game 2: His deck is full of value and was able to work better than mine. I was able to clear out his hand, but he drew into more gas before I could get a win-con. His manifest creatures were also very good against the Ugin, the Spirit Dragon that I tried out for the night.

Round 3

Opponent: Jeskai Ascendancy Tokens

Game 1: I couldn't find an AoE to get rid of several Hordeling Outburst. Fast game.

Game 2: I saw 3xAnger of the Gods and kept the board clean. Eventually stuck a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker for several turns and got him down to 1 life. He managed to come back with a Seeker of the Way before I could close it out.

Round 4

Opponent: Unknown

The pairings were made and the guy was nowhere to be found. He must have dropped and not informed the TO. Free win for me.

Round 5

Opponent: U/W Heroic

Game 1: I kept a land with only an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and a Swamp for lands and wasn't able to keep up with the threats he deployed due to my poor mana.

Game 2: He stuck a Favored Hoplite turn 1 and it stayed for a long time. However, I was able to keep his other threats off the board. The hoplite got 7 damage in before I was finally able to keep the board clean in general. I popped down a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker in hopes to start racing him. I then accidentally tapped the wrong mana when shooting out a Hero's Downfall and couldn't cast my Crackling Doom. I had to hope that I wasn't dead, and luckily he only put me down to 2. The following turn I was able to get rid of that last threat with the Crackling Doom and cast Empty the Pits for 7 zombies at the end of his turn.

Game 3: I was able to pick apart his hand early with 2xThoughtseize while he couldn't find dudes. I was then able to stick a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker and start working him. Once he was down to 8, he found a dude and made 'em really big. Luckily for me I was sitting on a Crackling Doom for a while, and also had a Magma Jet in hand.

I knew that there were going to be a few 3-2 in the top 8 and was really hoping my breakers were better. Sadly I came in 9th. The shop was awesome though and gave me a wah wah prize of the game "You Suck" for just missing top 8.
