This is my pet project Nicol Bolas, the Ravager   deck! Looking to control the game through hand disruption and good ol' fashion counterspells, with a nice smattering of wheel effects.

This is a bit of an EDH spin on 8 Rack, where you keep your opponents from having a hand from things like Thoughtseize , Inquisition of Kozilek , and Liliana of the Veil . This interacts nicely with Ensnaring Bridge and Leyline of the Void , as well as using Chains of Mephistopheles as a way to punish decks that look to draw many cards (which is most of them).

One of my favorite interactions in the deck is using a bounce effect like Cyclonic Rift into a wheel. These bounce effects allow for a wider target base than the typical single target removal spell and when used with a wheel works the same way, and gets around Indestructible for those moments where you would otherwise be unable to interact.

My meta sees a lot of activated abilities decks, which justifies the presence of Cursed Totem and Stifle . There are a number of meta call cards, so obviously tune it to your meta.

This deck is largely my attempt to find a nice midrange Grixis control deck that doesn't storm. I want to tune this as much as I can, hence the presence of cards such as Timetwister and Chains of Mephistopheles . I feel like there's more I can do and I'm going to do this as an ongoing project because I love Nicol Bolas the Ravager's ETB effect, as well as the planeswalker abilities.

The wincons:

Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth into Exsanguinate or Comet Storm

Wheel of Fortune , Timetwister , Jace's Archivist , etc. into Notion Thief to prevent opponents from having hands

Ulting Nicol Bolas, the Arisen and copying the effect twice with Rings of Brighthearth into a wheel effect

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Splinter Twin combos with Pestermite and Deceiver Exarch
