Originally this was going to be a 'best of all worlds' Child of Alara deck, but then spoilers for C17 came out.

I was also given a couple of shock lands to help with my mana base, because I'm trying to avoid buying fetch lands.

I'm currently playtesting this deck in Tabletop Simulator
