This is my The Ur-Dragon, dragon tribal deck. Iv'e loved dragons ever since I started playing MTG, in Tempest block. My very 1st EDH deck was also dragon tribal, but Nicol Bolas just wasn't competitive enough for me. When I saw The Ur-Dragon spoiled, I knew what I must do. Many people frown on tribal because it forces you to make card selections of a lower power level. Dragon tribal does not put you in this bind. The vast majority of dragon cards are powerful by themselves and are immediate threats.

The goal is to ramp early and begin flopping big dragons down as quickly as possible. 27 dragons may seem like way too many, but it works. The more dragons I play, the more I get to abuse The Ur-Dragon's eminence ability. What is that phrase I keep hearing? Oh ya, "The most busted cards in MTG cheat mana costs." I think people are really undervaluing 1CMC off all of your dragons. Turn 4 Dragonlord Ojutai? Sounds pretty good. The deck also has cards that stack on this, such as Urza's Incubator and Dragonspeaker Shaman. When one of these effects gets added, shit starts heating up.

I'm finding that there are so many big threats in your deck, that by time you play The Ur-Dragon, most of the enemy's removal will be used up. I still find it good practice to always assume that they are holding though. If your opponents hold all their removal for him, a couple of them are probably already dead. Hold The Ur-Dragon until your have a haste enabler (Lightning Greaves, Dragonlord Kolaghan, Dragon Tempest), in combination with Dragonlord Dromoka or Hexproof/Shroud.

The obvious cryptonite to the deck is a board wipe. So be sure to hold up a Swan Song or a Teferi's Protection when your board is big. It's also a good idea to not over extend. Don't go ham and play more than 2 or 3 dragons at a time, or you will pay. Greater Good is your friend. It makes your opponents not even want to board wipe. Even just two dragons on the board draws like 10 cards. Greater Good makes board wipes a win win. The other card that really helps the safety of your brood is Dragonlord Dromoka. This is one of those cards that I am always happy when I draw it. It stops your opponent from ruining your plays off haste triggers. With Dragonlord Dromoka in play, they can do nothing to stop The Ur-Dragon when he comes down to hand out naps. Dragons are a big investment. Being patient and protecting your dragons is what wins you games with this deck. If your are playing a multi player game, don't even bother dropping your commander unless he's protected in some way, or has haste. Someone is holding an answer for him.

Feel free to send me some constructive criticism, as I always enjoy feedback. Thanks for reading. Happy brewing!
