Standard* Aura Hexproof Budget GU (Simic)

Maybeboard

Budget version of budget bogles found at:http://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-magic-oath-of-the-gatewatch-updates-10-decksChanges from Aura-centric style to cheaper Delve.

How it Theoretically Plays

Basically the theory is you first place down some blockers in the form of Blisterpod and Embodiment of Spring using both as pseudo ramp into your Conifer Strider if need be. Where original Bogles would then enchant the hexproof and attack with unblockable damage, here we are going to play a more controlling game while opportunities to strike become available.

Control

Tapping down comes in the forms of:

Rush of Ice with the added bonus of awaken if we are flooded.

Containment Membrane A chance of preventing untap for a single . Only included 2x due to it not forcing tap.

Singing Bell Strike A means of both tapping and preventing untapping

Removal comes in the forms of:

Clutch of Currents Bouncing potential blockers and providing an alternative to creature generation based on mana state.

Savage Punch Can help remove some chump blockers and mid-range creatures. Will always trigger ferocious in our case and provide an additional +2 when we attack afterwards.

Attacking

When it comes to attacking the use of Become Immense will at most turn our Conifer Strider into an 11/7, which will be fueled by delving any control cards we have used to open our attack window. Additionally previous use of Savage Punch can potentially up our creature to 13/9 until end of turn. Thanks to OATH we can include the very nice Slip Through Space for the early game if we do not have a means of control, the added card draw is also a bonus. To cover these attack buffs I have included basic counterspells such as Dispel for preventing removal or counterspells our opponent uses in response. Additionally I have included Spell Shrivel if there happens to be a particularly nasty response or blocker trying to be played (i.e. Hexproof).

Why I Made This Deck

I am a very cheap MTG player, never having things such as planeswalkers, expeditions, playsets of legendaries; and I play standard. Been running Mono-red and recently Mono-black aggro at my FNM as its cheap and a can get some wins. I'm always looking out for cheap means of playing the game. Having read MTGgoldfish's list of budget standard I was inspired by their Bogle list as it is an archetype I've been interested in before. But they stated OATH brought nothing new for the deck. While it didn't bring much, it did bring Slip Through Space, one of my most enjoyed cards (aggro player mentality I guess). I thought to myself "Well really, all you need to do is cast Become Immense and surely you can win in a couple attacks." So I set off on making my own variation. Get a Conifer Strider + Become Immense + Slip Through Space and surely fun will be had. Then it was just a means of building up a defense around allowing this combo to go off; and so the blue control came through which will also feed our Delve. Hopefully I'll get to test it in some casual at my LGS soon. Also just under $9.
