Trade Stuff —Sept. 19, 2015

I have decided that I need to advertise on each of my decks the things that I am looking to acquire for each deck and, if you are a trader who has what I am looking for, feel free to look at my Binder.

I am looking for suggestions.

I would personally use Inquisition of Kozilek myself as you will likely want to undercut their progression so they can't mount an effective offense. I feel like I would swap the ratios of Blinkmoth Nexus to Inkmoth Nexus as the Blinkmoth one falls in direct line with your main win-con and a situation where Inkmoth would be more helpful seems kinda rare.

Anyway, I like the deck, nice work!

The original decklist called for 4x Blinkmoth Nexus but having 4x Inkmoth Nexus on hand I didn't see an issue with running it. Yes it doesn't fall in line but between the pumps from Master of Etherium , Cranial Plating , and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas I figured it wouldn't be a bad substitution.

Also, how often does modern see Reanimator decks?

August 19, 2012 2:50 p.m.

Dritz says... #6

Seems like a fine rationale to me.

In my experience with Modern I've seen more Reanimator decks with Griselbrand and the various one shot reanimate effects ( card:Goryo's Vengeance ) than really anything else. Storm has also been a common one. (This is from playing on Cockatrice so take that with a grain of salt. :P )

Yea I'm wondering based on the "exile" thing from Appetite for Brains

I wondered because if I can snag a Griselbrand out of someone's hand with Appetite for Brains it gets exiled. However, if it's not all that common in modern I will go for Inquisition of Kozilek

The exile thing would certainly undercut their entire progression and makes fine sense.

Would you say that re-animator is prevalent enough to warrant it?

August 19, 2012 3:45 p.m.

Dritz says... #11

In my experience, I would say yes. It is a good card for getting rid of combo pieces or other win cons as well, like the Eldrazi Gods, things like Felidar Sovereign and similar high-powered win-cons.

I havnt seen any reanimator decks that are extremely competitive (Since Dread Return and Golgari Grave-Troll are on the banned list) but if your worried then why not just card:Tormod's Crypt?

I would personally cut down on the land. +1 from me

I was just worried for the appetite for brains/ inquisition comparison. Why cut lands?

August 19, 2012 7:28 p.m.

cooknathan says... #14

Out of about 5 playtests I felt Like I had too much land about 2 or 3 of those times. To be fair, within those lands was the nexus' so you could kind of use the mana but I still would have preferred something other than land. Between 16 lands +4 mox opal +4springleaf drum +2paradise mantle your esentially running 26 lands. Perhaps Gitaxian Probe or Etched Champion ?

Ohthenoises says... #15

Etched sounds good. How many in your opinion?

cooknathan says... #16

At least 2 hard to say lol.

I could cut the solitary island and blink moth? I like what tezz does with darksteel citidel and ink moth.

August 19, 2012 8:02 p.m.

cooknathan says... #18

Yeah I think the island can go. But its hard to tell if you should cut more lands or the drum or mantle. A matter of balancing artifacts for land fix.

this reminds me of my america deck a little. i think card:Soul's Fire would work wonders since you have red in the deck. if you had Cranial Plating and Master of Etherium out with some 10 artifacts (which is not to hard to do especially with artifact lands, which might be worth looking into) you can more or less wipe someone out for 3 mana.

Appetite for Brains does basically nothing in modern. So if you can't afford Thoughtseize , don't play either. Failing that, pick up Inquisition of Kozilek .

Ohthenoises says... #22

It stops big bomb creatures and every boardwipe that could hit except Whipflare Slagstorm and a miracle Devastation Tide and a select few others.

Woooo +1 for the title alone. But cool theme nonetheless!

On the sideboard you can play Ethersworn Canonist instead of Rule of Law and Inquisition of Kozilek instead of Appetite for Brains . What do you think?
