  2. Vedalken Orrery
  3. Sphinx of Magosi
  4. Decree of Pain
  5. Increasing Ambition

Added:

  1. Mystic Remora
  2. Life from the Loam
  3. Scroll Rack
  4. Intuition
  5. Mystical Teachings

$1200?! o__O Nice build imo! Ever thought about The MimeoplasmMTG Card: The Mimeoplasm main? Lategame it could really rock... but maybe I'm wrong, never played BUG.

I was considering The MimeoplasmMTG Card: The Mimeoplasm, but I didn't include it for the same reason I ultimately cut Geth, Lord of the VaultMTG Card: Geth, Lord of the Vault and Havengul LichMTG Card: Havengul Lich. The efficacy of the card is entirely dependent upon the gamestate and I found myself encountering very few situations in which it would have been helpful and even fewer where it would be better than the included alternatives.

As a side note, Seedborn MuseMTG Card: Seedborn Muse + Magus of the FutureMTG Card: Magus of the Future/Future SightMTG Card: Future Sight + Leyline of AnticipationMTG Card: Leyline of Anticipation/]Vedalken OrreryMTG Card: Vedalken Orrery (and possibly Oracle of Mul DayaMTG Card: Oracle of Mul Daya and Sensei's Divining TopMTG Card: Sensei's Divining Top) gives some of the most broken control I've ever seen. Add Volrath's StrongholdMTG Card: Volrath's Stronghold and suddenly the Venser, Shaper SavantMTG Card: Venser, Shaper Savant, Glen Elendra ArchmageMTG Card: Glen Elendra Archmage, and Mystic SnakeMTG Card: Mystic Snake in my graveyard are looking pretty strong.

I also had a game where I Mimic VatMTG Card: Mimic Vat-imprinted Mystic SnakeMTG Card: Mystic Snake...

Mimic vat is a fun card. One of my personal favorites was when i had Seedborn MuseMTG Card: Seedborn Muse, a Parallel LivesMTG Card: Parallel Lives and an imprinted Fleshbag MarauderMTG Card: Fleshbag Marauder. Which caused alot of hate overall. Every turn each opponent had to sac 2 creatures.

On the topic of the deck. +1. I like the general idea the only problem, which is hard to fix, single target spells like your counter-spells tend to be less useful than multi-target spells like wraths.

Epochalyptik says... #5

While the counterspells are of variable usefulness (moreso in multiplayer games), they offer quite a bit of utility. They allow me to stop an opponent from resolving something game-changing or protect my own win-cons. I've never been disappointed to draw a Mana DrainMTG Card: Mana Drain...

Skyshroud ClaimMTG Card: Skyshroud Claim seems like playable ramp, but I'm not sure if I want to swap CultivateMTG Card: Cultivate for it. I think I might try doing so.

if you're running damia than Library of AlexandriaMTG Card: Library of Alexandria or the infinitely cheaper Magus of the LibraryMTG Card: Magus of the Library are both good choices

Epochalyptik says... #8

Except Library of AlexandriaMTG Card: Library of Alexandria is banned in EDH. The effect isn't terribly impressive, though. The only time I would need the draw power is in the early game when I don't have Damia, Consecrated SphinxMTG Card: Consecrated Sphinx, Phyrexian ArenaMTG Card: Phyrexian Arena, or Rhystic StudyMTG Card: Rhystic Study out. Even then, I rarely have seven in hand if I have a good start. It's usually closer to five.

I would play Realms UnchartedMTG Card: Realms Uncharted as opposed to CultivateMTG Card: Cultivate or Skyshroud ClaimMTG Card: Skyshroud Claim. Realms is instant speed, and can find you either all dual or multi colored lands, or nice tech lands such as Cabal CoffersMTG Card: Cabal Coffers or Boseiju, Who Shelters AllMTG Card: Boseiju, Who Shelters All. Seriously look into it.

When I ran a Bant control deck I used Mystical TutorMTG Card: Mystical Tutor to grab Life from the LoamMTG Card: Life from the Loam, and then used Realms UnchartedMTG Card: Realms Uncharted to get WastelandMTG Card: Wasteland, Strip MineMTG Card: Strip Mine, Command TowerMTG Card: Command Tower, and Reflecting PoolMTG Card: Reflecting Pool. I always got the Command Tower and Reflecting Pool, then just Loamed on my next draw and started blowing up lands.

March 13, 2012 3:27 p.m.

The land tutoring hasn't really been much of an issue since I have Skyshroud ClaimMTG Card: Skyshroud Claim and Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan. I don't do much land recursion - the Crucible of WorldsMTG Card: Crucible of Worlds is only for the event that someone takes out Cabal CoffersMTG Card: Cabal Coffers or Volrath's StrongholdMTG Card: Volrath's Stronghold. Realms UnchartedMTG Card: Realms Uncharted would be nice, but without any recursion either in hand or readily available I'd have to avoid finding high-power utility lands with it.

I was thinking about adding Mindbreak TrapMTG Card: Mindbreak Trap or Time StopMTG Card: Time Stop to help shut down other combo/control builds. Opinions on that approach?

I've got quite a similar list to this. Really love damia, people just don't recognise how absurd she is until they're locked out. I've got Mindbreak TrapMTG Card: Mindbreak Trap thrown into the deck, its sometimes relevant to be stopping the stuff like ObliterateMTG Card: Obliterate and even the combos. Most of the time, Time StopMTG Card: Time Stop isn't something I'm really hoping to draw or even use. I have enough other things to hold back anything that would be posing a threat.

You have a bunch of grab 2 creature combo pieces...why not put Mikeaus the Unhallowed and [[Triskilleon]

April 5, 2012 11:39 a.m.

That combo is kind of vulnerable and the creatures don't have any other purpose in the deck. All the combo creatures in the deck have additional uses in utility capacities - I don't think Mikaeus, the UnhallowedMTG Card: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and TriskelionMTG Card: Triskelion do much for me in that regard. There's enough recursion to make Mikaeus unnecessary as a utility creature.

April 5, 2012 11:43 a.m.

After some extensive playtesting and lots of BUG combo-control mirrors, I'm realizing once more how broken this deck is. It has now been tweaked to ramp even more.

April 11, 2012 9:15 a.m.

i love your deck man i 1uped it check out my decks i only have three of them right then

April 12, 2012 7:20 p.m.

I've made some changes to speed the deck up and add some more control.

Notably, I've included Mana WebMTG Card: Mana Web as an anti-control card. I want to see how it performs and I'm hoping that it will devastate control decks in combination with Urborg, Tomb of YawgmothMTG Card: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

looks like your insane at building decks lol you think you could take a look at mine???

May 2, 2012 7:04 p.m.

loving the Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger MTG Card: Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger - Mana WebMTG Card: Mana Web synergy

loving the Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan - Urborg, Tomb of YawgmothMTG Card: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - Cabal CoffersMTG Card: Cabal Coffers synergy and how it interacts with vorinclex

loving the PalinchronMTG Card: Palinchron in there

so many beautiful combinations, nice job

+1

May 4, 2012 11:59 a.m.

I've only dropped Mana WebMTG Card: Mana Web in one game since its inclusion, but I think I like the impact (in multiplayer, at least). It's criminally effective with Urborg, Tomb of YawgmothMTG Card: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and it forces the other two combo-control players to make extremely calculated decisions or risk losing because of a single tap.

no this is the edh i wanna play at our tourney (30 card proxy ftw)

May 4, 2012 1:22 p.m.

Vman says... #21

btw i noticed, tappedout doesnt have an edh hub lol

May 4, 2012 1:23 p.m.

There's an EDH listing on the hub page, but I think the idea was to use the deck format to show that it's EDH.

This deck took first place at a local EDH tourney, which was run in three matches of four-man pods. I took first in pods one and two, then second in pod three (mostly because I spent an enormous amount of resources controlling a Teferi-Pool deck from achieving game lock and simultaneously trying to stop a Riku deck from gaining in board state).

May 4, 2012 1:42 p.m.
