Having added Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip as Commander (to be closer to my Creatureless theme), I figure I would make a few thematic and functional changes. Since I do not play French 1v1, I am adding some EDH staples that are banned in 1v1. I am also adding Chandra's gear to increase the efficacy of the deck overall.

Add:
+1 Bosium Strip
+1 Eternity Vessel
+1 Magmaquake
+1 Maze of Ith
+1 Mirari
+1 Pyromancer's Gauntlet
+1 Pyromancer's Goggles
+1 Reliquary Tower
+1 Shattering Spree
+1 Sol Ring
+1 Strip Mine

Remove:
-1 Farsight Mask
-1 Fissure
-1 Mystifying Maze
-1 Price of Progress
-1 Radiate
-1 Recoup
-1 Shivan Gorge
-1 Shunt
-1 Snow-Covered Mountain
-1 Sun Droplet
-1 Thawing Glaciers

Nice deck, I don't see mono creaturless decks often... Plus, it looks like it can beat the crap out of Talrand, Sky Summoner, +1 all the way mate!

Thanks! I'm currently testing out Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient as Commander instead of Zo-Zu the Punisher as I do have some artifacts that can benefit from doubled effects, and really, this deck is happy to never, EVER, cast its Commander.

Had a very fun game the other day against Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Rafiq of the Many decks where I was brought down to 4 life, then stabilized and won due to Torpor Orb, Glacial Crevasses, Stranglehold, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, Journeyer's Kite and Terrain Generator. I was shocked that I won to be honest.

This Mono deck can really hold its own.

Ekuryua Yeah, Bosium Strip is good, I just wish it didn't exile.

well it's better than flashback...

Hmmm not really. Bosium Strip only works with the top card of your graveyard... Not nearly as functional as Flashback.

Still a good card and worth considering though.

Deck looks great. I'm working on trying to build a deck with her as well(as soon as I can get my hands on one) focused on burn with dragons for some support.

H3llfir369 Thanks. That sounds fun too. It's fun playing a creatureless deck in EDH. An interesting challenge.

How does it fair in multiplayer? My playgroup is pretty aggressive and has some gnarly decks, so not sure if creatureless would be as viable with them, but I did want to try it.

It does surprisingly well. You'll take some hits and such in the first few rounds but if you can stay alive and not make enemies, it can and does win the majority of games.

Oh, very nice man.unfortunately I'm having issues getting cards I need cause my very crappy card shop near where I live ONLY caters to standard players. Stopped doing trades for modern and commander stuff, so I have nothing to trade. :/

Yeah, that sucks

H3llfir369 says... #15

Yeah man! But have you thought of trying a Mindslaver in here for a little added protection? Especially for late game.

Ender666666 says... #16

No. It never crossed my mind. I really hate that card. I don't think it's fun to play, or have played against you.

H3llfir369 says... #17

Fair enough. I completely understand, my friend runs it in his mono red artifact deck with Daretti, Scrap Savant, and can pretty much lock out a player indefinitely. It's pretty much a game ender and should be removed. I just know it can be useful if not abused for a one turn protection.

I totally get that. I too have a Daretti deck and Mindslaver has been suggested a million times. Reusing it is really busted, and I of course have a knee-jerk reaction to it.

Besides anything else though, playing it really paints a target on you, which I like to avoid.

H3llfir369 says... #19

Completely understandable. How do you keep from painting a target while being strictly a burn deck? My playgroup said that you'll come out the gates pissing people off, then fizzle after a few turns. Wasn't sure if that's a common thing or if it is just how they had theirs set up.

It can be. The first few times I played this, it certainly was the case. I'd try to be aggressive early and would draw hate, and be punished for it. Over time I learned to modify my play style when playing this.

This is a deck that can appear to be very simple and straightforward to play, but that in reality needs a lot of skill and finesse to play correctly.

First of all, the unknown cards in your hand are far scarier to the table than the spell on the stack.. Hold back from casting anything offensive whenever possible in the early game. Bluffing, and coyly suggesting that you have something scary in hand can be a great deterrent to having someone attack you early on. If someone does target you, I usually give them a blank stare and ask if they are SURE they want to do that, while stroking or tapping on a specific card in my hand. Bluffing is your friend.

Second, focus on ramping up your mana and defensive spells. Get Angelheart Vial, Forcefield, Sun Droplet, Glacial Crevasses and other stuff like that out to take any hits that may come your way.

Third, Play a political game. Make alliances and bargains with other players. Promise the player with a lot of creatures that you won't burn them all away if they don't come after you. The rest of the table will naurally see that player as the bigger threat, and will leave you alone. Encourage the table to fight amongst themselves while you get set up. Whenever possible, don't react to something threatening, that doesn't effect you equally, or at all. Play the game of incremental life advantage. As long as you can have a bit more life than the table, you can always pull out a win with spells like Earthquake at a moment's notice.

Remember that the longer the game goes, the MORE threatening you become, but the LESS threatening you LOOK due to having no VISIBLE threats on the table. In commander, I find people tend to fixate on what they can see instead of what they can't.

Ender666666 says... #21

Oh, and be vengeful. Be willing burn yourself to the ground if it means that you take out someone who attacked you in a big way or betrayed your allegiance. You may not win the game, but psychologically, you'll win the war. The next time you play this deck, everyone will remember what you did and will think twice about crossing you.

And if that isn't quintessentially , I don't know what is. :D

H3llfir369 says... #22

That was an epic breakdown of the deck. If I could +1 again, I would haha. But I had planned to have some complete game enders at the cost of me losing as well, such as Heartless Hidegetsu and Earthquake just because it seems reckless and like you act before thinking sorta like Chandra is known to do.

Ender666666 says... #23

Oh thanks :)

You could add Hidetsugu, but I like keeping things creatureless.

H3llfir369 says... #24

Fair enough. Question though, when is a good time to bring out your commander? Cause as soon as she is flipped you are gonna be a target, but the later into the game you get the less useful she becomes.

Ender666666 says... #25

A fair question. The truth and beauty of this deck, is that the Commander is irrelevant. You can go the whole game without casting it and be completely fine.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to have Pyromancer's Gauntlet out and Chandra was a beast. Tap to deal 3, flip, -2 or +1 to deal 4 more. I almost wanted her to die so I could do it over and over. lol
