Introduction

History Show

I have been playing magic since Mirridon in 2003. I have only recently graduated to EDH and really wanted to do an actual Dragon deck. Nicol Bolas is an obvious choice, so I thought of doing something a bit more fun and going with a commander that has around 300ish decks listed on EDHrec. All of the decks I build are completely themed based decks, that try to win, but through weird ways that most people scoff at.

Theme Show

The theme of this deck has shifted a bit from the original specters. It has turned more towards using the advantage of discard and winning off a payload of Alms Collector or Notion Thief .

What a great hand I drew

Liliana's Caress + Megrim + Jace's Archivist + haste enabler (best is Lightning Greaves + 2x Island + Swamp + Sol Ring + Dimir Signet . The last two cards just make this go off much faster--obviously its not going to be a miracle 9 cards each time--but it is possible. If you have both in had--and can somehow draw a swamp and an island then you have all you need in your hand.
Lets assume your table doesn't play with enchantment removal or they didn't draw it for the first 3 turns.

Turn 1 Show

Island + Sol Ring + Dimir Signet

Turn 2 Show

Swamp + Jace's Archivist + Lightning Greaves (for the shroud not the haste)

Turn 3 Show

Island + Megrim + Liliana's Caress .

Kaboom Show

How this goes down to make enough mana incase its not clear: Tap Sol Ring using a colorless to tap Dimir Signet (1 colorless and black and blue in mana pool), then use this three floating for Megrim tap two mana (leaving an Island open) slap down Liliana's Caress . You should then have one Island left to activate Jace's Archivist ability and deal some damage! With the added benefit of drawing back your hand.

Let's assume on average you will wheel 6 (if playing against a table of 4), so that's around 24 damage to most people. Obviously it'll fizzle if they have less cards in hand.

How many Wheels Can I get? Let's spin

Collective Defiance + Windfall + Day's Undoing = a bunch of wheels for you or for them, depending whats on board. Pair with Megrim or similar, or Nekusar, the Mindrazer . Especially since these are cheap wheels, you can really dump out a large amount of damage because of these 3 mana wheels. Having any sort of damage dealing cards down are great.

Other boring removal

Its there, you should use it, and kill stuff. Plus there is plenty of other things that could go in if you aren't budget restricted.

Ways to Win Show

A couple of the core pieces to this deck that are always fun to have on the board are Fell Specter + Megrim + Liliana's Caress and Raiders' Wake . A quick note about Fell Specter --this card sometimes is better than the enchantments because if you can equip Lightning Greaves it either forces a board wipe, or forces them to use two removal spells to get rid of it.

Megrim + Jace's Archivist + Magus of the Wheel . I think you can see how this works. Lets say they have 5 cards in hand, that's 10 damage from Magus, they draw 7, make them discard 7, thats 14 damage. You just did 24 damage in one turn, for 3 mana.

An alternative win-con, possibly some win-more, is Nekusar, the Mindrazer and Underworld Dreams . Both of these allow for either a second win condition if your opponents have removed all of your when they discard they take damage, then slap those bad boys on the table and throw some wheels out there and do some damage!

Optional Stuff

Tax

I added in some tax like cards as well and other annoyances. I find these cards really help solidify keeping you opponents hands near zero. Casting a wheel and then flashing in a Notion Thief feels pretty nice as you get to draw a whole load of cards and they don't. Plus other cards add to people desire to not want to play the few cards in their hands because you will get a benefit from it by either hitting them back in the face or killing off their stuff.

Suggestions

I will take any and all suggestions, looking for mostly grixis as the colors, but if there is a green/white card that really appeals to you let me know! Also, if anyone has any fun discard shennagins and cards that work together that'd be appreciated as well.

Also trying to keep it relatively budget friendly, so some obvious includes might not be in because they are a $20 + dollar card.
