~~~
Vs Living End Cascade: 2-1
This one was kind of amusing.. The first match he mulligan to 4, but he still managed to get his combo off about 4 or 5 turns in and totally squish me.. After that however, I boarded in my graveyard & combo hate, and was able to meet him in the opening turn with an Inquisition of Kozilek targeting the Living End in his hand & then Surgical Extraction to totally remove it from the equation, from there he tried to hold on, but I was able to just lock him down while pinging him to death.. Match 3 I had Sadistic Sacrament in my opening, so I was able to use that to remove all three copies of Living End from the game, from there he tried to slow me down with back-to-back Avalanche Riders, but eventually out came my heavy hitters to mercilessly beat him into submission..
Vs Mono-U UrzaTron: 2-0
I was a little spooked in the beginning when this guy started off dropping Urza lands, but then again he really wasn't able to do much of anything to me.. Both games saw some descent draws for me & (apparently..)  bad draws for my opponent. I was able to search his library in the second match, and his stuff looked pretty scary, but I was able to just lock him down & generally beat face without very much resistance..
Vs Grixis Cruel Control: 0-2
The same Grixis deck from my other updates, albeit with some small tweaks as usual.. The guy finally started including his own set of Inquisition of Kozilek& a singleton Liliana of the Veil, which allowed him to wreck my hand accordingly; the former really made a major difference in messing me up both matches.. The first match I was never able to properly recover from his initial Inquisition, and so he was able to quickly lock me down & burn face.. The next match was disappointing because I managed to get him down to 5 health, but then he resolved a Damnation& his singleton Liliana of the Veil, which between that & subsequent bad draws(mana flood..), he was able to lock me down & slowly ping me to death with a single Lavaclaw Reaches.. It sucked, but oh well..
Vs Naya Zoo: 2-0
The same Zoo deck from my previous update.. Unlike our last encounter; he was able to come out hard & fast. I was able to control his creatures for the most part, but it was all the burn spells that almost did me in in a hurry. But luckily I had a early Phyrexian Arena fueling me card advantage, and I drew into a couple of Gray Merchant of Asphodels over the course of the game; I used one to stabilize my life total, then a couple turns later I had the (9)mana to drop the other one after resolving a Phyrexian Obliterator the same turn for lethal life loss.. The next match he mulligan to 5, but it was also rather intense.. It more or less came down to a Midrange vs Aggro race which fortunately leans in my favor..
Conclusion
The first two rounds were actually completely new match-ups for me.. I was able to face my first Living End combo deck (I might actually put one together as a multiplayer deck), and a Mono-U variant of Tron that I wasn't aware of..
All-in-all it was a good run for your average Midrange deck; naturally strong against Aggro, strong post-board against Combo, but weak against dedicated Control..
There is work that needs to be done to improve post-board position against Control..
one simple change. i would replace Go for the Throat with Victim of Night . basically the same mana cost but if you go against tron its not a dead card
Love devotion. Love the deck! Superb! I didn't read all the comments; and I'm sure you discussed the reason for not requiring Cavern of Souls and/or Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx ( which would be the only two suggestions I would make)...the deck is relatively financially reasonable now; so I can understand not paying the cost for the benefits the land can produce. Either way, great deck! +1 for sure .
I have to say I'm really impressed. Phyrexian O. has been a huge favorite since I stumbled into magic a few years ago. I instantly saw the genius of the card and fell in love with the possibilities, but they are difficult to afford.This is genius, and the only thing I wish is that Erebos couldn't be fit in. He'd be a great way of guaranteeing your devotion due to his indestructibility, and would counter life gain while you set up some Garys, but I do see he'd slow down the deck wuite a bit.
All I have to say is "heh heh.... GAAAAARY!"
Sorry for the fallout reference
Some good cards that are black are Bloodghast and Bloodchief Ascension . Sorry if they're too expensive. +1.
Well I may have missed it so sorry if you addressed this already. First off...Great build and I am glad to see another Obliterator fan!!! I have a similar deck. So only two real suggestions...1) How about adding Nightmare Lash as another way to pump your beasts. 2) Add 1 or 2 Consuming Vapors great removal spell with rebound very powerful. All in all great deck and long live Mono Black!!! +1 from me!!
