This I'm my attempt at modern i would love any suggestions the overall play style is focused around the interactions of Death's Shadow utilizing the avatar on both sides of the graveyard. Please take a moment to review my choices and ask me questions id really appreciate any insight into the modern meta as I'm new to the format.
Death's Shadow - This deck is built with the purpose of losing life to the point where -X/-X still leaves your avatar at 8/8 or greater and an amazing threat. Of course he will have a target on him which isn't all that bad of news as his presence in the graveyard makes an incredible target for 13 +1/+1 counters...due to...

- His scavenge ability is the second focus of the deck attempted synergy with the rest of the deck...
Lotleth Troll
- His discard ability helps to beef up our graveyard with targets for scavenge as well as beefing up himself. A 2/1 trampler for with regenerate for .
Spark Elemental - Amazing synergy can provide 3 +1/+1 counters and his trample can easily turn him into a wincon with the proper scavenge fodder in the graveyard. Awesome!!
Nyxathid - Early game hand disruption Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek helps to make him an early threat and Liliana of the Veil keeps him lean and mean late game. Also 7 +1/+1 counters for

Phyrexian Arena - lifeless card draw perfect.
Spoils of the Vault
- Allows the true grit players to throw themselves over the cliff call out Death's Shadow and hope you see him before you hit the rocks below. also great to tutor for whatever you need only cast it if you've got the metal its got a real blackjack feeling to it.
Thoughtseize - Lifeloss and hand disruption.
Dismember - Lifeloss and creature hate

Abrupt Decay - the most relevant removal for this build beyond Dismember.
Lightning Bolt - early removal late game surprise win tried and true.
