Derevi Go Quack Quack, Seth Go Moo

Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos) Minotaur

SunnySlash

A Minotaur-Tribal deck with a little bit of Menace-Tribal and sacrifice sub-themes featuring Sethron, Hurloon General as the leader of your moo-man army.

As soon as Seth was spoiled, I was immediately reminded of one of my favorite cards from when I first started Magic as a kid, Hurloon Minotaur . It was almost as if my boy earned a name for himself and eventually became a general after all these years.

With my nostalgia trip out of the way, I like this commander. He's a minotaur that cares about minotaurs that gives you more minotaurs for playing more minotaurs. Did I mention minotaurs? Minotaurs.

Main Strategy: Get Seth out and play more minotaurs to swing at your opponents.

Let's be honest, Minotaurs don't have that much support within the tribe, so you have to add in a lot of other cards to make the deck work.

These are particularly strong in this deck, since Seth makes tokens, and those synergies typically support creature-heavy decks in general.

Notable Token Synergy Cards - Panharmonicon , Phyrexian Altar , Skullclamp

This is necessary for any aggressive deck that deals with combat. You need ways of making your creatures get through, or ways of dealing extra damage to your opponents.

Notable Evasion Cards - Eldrazi Monument , Sonorous Howlbonder , Dauthi Embrace

Notable Damage Cards - Purphoros, God of the Forge , Fanatic of Mogis , Throne of the God-Pharaoh

With Ikoria came "keyword-tribal" cards, and in Seth's case, the word of the day is: Menace

Taking advantage of your commander's abilities to the fullest is always nice, and thankfully, the Menace keyword certainly got some love.

Notable Menace Cards - Sonorous Howlbonder , Labyrinth Raptor

Rakdos is a good color combo for sacrifice and recursion, so having cards that help you get stuff out of your graveyard, especially in a creature-heavy deck like this one, is nice.

Notable Recursion Cards - Phyrexian Reclamation , Living Death , Balthor the Defiled , Living Lightning

There is a couple ways to go infinite in this deck, so I figured I should mention them.

Cloudstone Curio - With cost reducers like Ragemonger and Urza's Incubator , you can effectively cast your Minotaurs for free. Curio triggers off of nontoken and token creatures alike, so with Seth out, you create infinite tokens, and even without him, you can have infinite ETBs.

Living Lightning - Get this on the field with Phyrexian Reclamation and Phyrexian Altar on the field and Mana Geyser in hand. Play Geyser, sacrifice Living Lightning to the Altar for black mana. Living Lightning's trigger gets Geyser back, and you use the black mana from Altar along with the red mana from Geyser to cast everything again. As long as your opponents have enough tapped lands, rinse and repeat for infinite red mana.

In closing, Minotaurs aren't just divine, they're bovine, so it behooves me to say that Seth is the tribal commoonder fur me, and will hopefully be stampeding onto the cattlefield soon. Moo.
