Derevi EDH: Untap the World

Commander / EDH* Control GWU (Bant) Ramp Tokens

Neogore

Maybeboard

Intro

I wasn't sure where I was gonna go with this before, but I think I've got it now. The plan is to use control stuff--mainly counterspells, fogs, exiles, and stealing creatures--to keep opponents from doing anything nasty, meanwhile beating them down with Derevi, Empyrial Tactician to keep mana and the important guys untapped.

I don't want this to just be another exile-return-to-battlefield Brago wannabe deck. I see a lot of Derevi decks built around that mechanic, but I just want to use and abuse tap abilities.

Suggestions for Suggestions

The biggest thing I lack here is a reliabe win condition--other than commander damage, swarming someone with tokens, and Dismiss Into Dreams. It's all well and good to control the board, protect myself from instants, and all that--but I'm trying to avoid infinite combos and turbofogging if I can. (I play this deck with friends, and my discard deck with Painful Quandary makes them salty enough.)

Another problem I'm seeing is mana; I don't have a lot of it, even with ramp, and I feel like I need to make some cuts to add more. There' some imbalance in card function especially--a buttload of counterspells, and perhaps too many "tap/untap target creature" creatures, as much as that's the theme of the deck.

I still want to fit in a few cards from the maybeboard, however, like Edric, Spymaster of Trest, maybe Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Evolution Charm, Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots, Conjurer's Closet for more Derevi triggers, or maybe some of the signets for even more ramp.

Combos

Deadeye Navigator + Derevi, Empyrial Tactician for easy tap/untaps.

Elite Arcanist + Render Silent or any charm is pretty cool, and Elite Arcanist + Soul Foundry could create a pretty significant defense with Fog or Holy Day and counterspells. Mirari with the charms would be pretty impressive as well.

Basalt Monolith + Derevi, Empyrial Tactician for extra colorless mana.

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician + Squirrel Nest , Kjeldoran Outpost, or Thraben Doomsayer would produce a minimum of two tokens per turn assuming I can either flicker Derevi or deal damage with another creature (like Invisible Stalker ), and that's not even including the other untap creatures.

Daring Thief + Derevi, Empyrial Tactician is damn good with any tokengen. "Why yes, I'll trade my squirrel for your Stormtide Leviathan. Thank you very much." Beguiler of Wills does roughly the same, if being more expensive.

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician + Dismiss into Dream . Suddenly a nuisance becomes a bomb.
