The basic idea is to gain advantage all around with no regard or life; especially not yours. Lich + Repay in Kind instantly wins you the game by totally killing yourself. Only in black can losing be a wincon. Repay can be nasty even without having 0 life if you or another player is relatively low in the first place. The fun part about Lich is that while it's on the battlefield, losing life does nothing to you. You can't pay life, but I've been told drawing your entire library with Ad Nauseam is 'not bad.' The other combo here is Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth + Exsanguinate. Infinite life drain 'round the table. Even if you can't assemble the combo, Exsanguinate can be good on its own with all the ramp we've got. Platinum Angel and Lich's Mirror are for when things go terribly wrong. Like when someone destroys Lich, or when that jerk plays infect. There are Stax elements floating around because it slows down opponents, and that makes things just a little more fun for me. I can ramp over the tax effects and I've got a few reanimation abilities that can bring back anything I have to sac for some reason. To round things out we have plenty of tutors and board wipes, and some spot removal like Hero's Downfall and Grip of Desolation .

Fun interactions include, but are not limited to:

Contamination + Bitterblossom Shuts your opponents off of lands. Mana rocks are the source of non-black mana from now on. This is especially good since black does not remove enchantments very well.

Sheoldred, Whispering One + Sidisi, Undead Vizier By a show of hands, how many of you like to demonic tutor every turn? Me too.

Winter Orb + Crucible of Worlds + Polluted Delta This pretty much just means I get 2 untapped lands per turn and you don't.
