I just ran this deck at FNM as a throw together deck, and was quite happy for how it came together. I went 3-1 only losing to esper control and even in that match up I went (2-1), nearly winning the 3rd round. All of the other matches I beat my opponents in 2 rounds. Im looking for suggestions on how to further improve what I have here, I know I need more consistency for sure. Also, I am considering adding in a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx just in case I can add bunches of mana, not really sure if I have enough devotion enables however, thoughts? My deck breaks down as follows:
Mana dorks:
Elvish Mystic: Quick one drop to get the ball rolling
Sylvan Caryatid: good defender that helps smooth out color issues
Facebeaters:
Dreg Mangler: He's quick on his feet, and packs a punch fast. And when he dies, if I have extra mana lying around, hes a great spurce of +1/+1 counters. (Maybe be replaced by Fanatic of Xenagos?)
Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch: Because if hydras wernt scary enough, hasty hydras are more so. Also, 4/4 first strike with haste is also relevant.
Kalonian Hydra: I love hydras, and I think this guy is my all time favorite. Hes just amazing, especially if you give him hast and swing for 8 trample.
Polukranos, World Eater: This guy is amazing, 5/5 on turn 4 or before is great, and his monstrosity is great with all the ramp I have. Wish I owned more.
Utility:
Dreadbore: kills planeswalkers, creatures, you name it. Its a bit slower than Hero's Downfall, but aside from having to spend the mana on your turn, its the same (for killing walkers that is).
Golgari Charm: Fell in love with this charm, kills mono blues Master of Waves, Detention Sphere, regenerates your guys, it does everything.
Hero's Downfall: Kill. Planeswalkers, creatures, whatever.
Putrefy: My replacement for not enough Hero's Downfall, anti artifact can be relevant? Still pretty good.
Rakdos's Return: Awesome spell, makes your opponent discard entire hand AND deals damage to them, I love it.
Read the Bones: Great dig spell, helps me refill my hand, or find important pieces.
Thoughtseize: Lets me remove an opponents key piece, maybe it was that one card that just made their hand keepable.
Please add suggestions on what to remove or add, and please dont just suggest some of the top dollar cards that are mentioned in the maybeboard, they have been considered and are waiting on funds/trades. Thank you!
