Hello, this idea came from both my recent brew of a 8 Rack deck and my want to use
Lightning Skelemental
. The creation is a 8 Rack Rush deck that is not at all like any 8 Rack you have seen before. I looked at a few sources for ideas but the deck here I created is completely original.
Deck Breakdown
Basically, the 8 Rack is typically mono-black and focused on non-stop hand disruption. The disruption is capitalized on
The Rack
and the other rack Shrieking Afflictions, hence the name 8 Rack.
So whats different here? The main difference is that this deck uses red. Normally, a turn 3
Liliana of the Veil
is played but here we expanded to
Lightning Skelemental
and
Blightning
. Also, this deck utilizes
Mind Rake
which can be overloaded to work like
Wrench Mind
.
In order to make this work, you MUST have fetches, shocks, and maybe more. These are critical because you need to be able to cast a card every turn (always black spells) while still being about to get the double red for the casting cost of the
Lightning Skelemental
on turn 3.
Sidenote - the snow lands are for the sideboard card
Dead of Winter
which is an effective boardwipe should we need it.
Final Comments
So I am yet to build this deck but I do see myself building it in the future. Right now I feel
Blightning
isn't the greatest and maybe should be slotted out. I don't know, it is hard to say.
Anyways, all that to say, any suggestions and comments are appreciated because I do want to optimize the deck before I nuke my wallet and trade binder. Until then, my budget build will include
Blackmail
,
Funeral Charm
,
Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage
, and not the manabase that makes this possible.
