Delicious Skittles EDH

Commander / EDH

Infect the rainbow, taste the rainbow.

Alright guys, infect hate aside, I'd appreciate some help finishing this deck. I've redesigned it for multiplayer playability, but still need to remove 5 cards. Please help me decide what needs cut! (:

one relatively obvious choice is Mind Slash... You only have ten creatures so it's pretty off in your build. Same story with Skullclamp. If you had Bitterblossom in, I would have been saying something completely different though just for the potential power of that synergy.

Ring of Xathrid is also slow in my opinion. Regeneration is nice but Skittles is looking for the one hit, hasty kill. Look more for evasion and protection.

I would also take out a lot of the conditional removal spells.

One of the things you can consider to help cut down cards is to trim down the number of spot removal and 1-for-1 discard spells. Command/EDH is generally a multiplayer format, and when you are having to deal with multiple opponents 1-for-1 type cards lose a lot of the value they have in 1v1 games. Basically, using a spell like Ostracize means you go down one card, one of your opponents might go down one card if they have a creature in hand, and your other opponents aren't affected and may now have card advantage on you. It pays to have a moderately small selection of instant speed spot removal cards (competative decks tend to run around 8 but generally people run less) so that you can interrupt combos and such, but having too many 1-for-1 cards is how you end up loosing the card advantage race in Commander. Making an opponent discard a particular card might slow them down a bit, but it often doesn't make a lot of difference since you still have to deal with other opponents that you haven't affected.

Devour Flesh

Skeletal Scrying

Mind Slash - You don't have too many recursive creatures here

Ring of Xathrid - Skithiryx won't be hanging on the battlefield for very long, unless he gets mooned or lignified.

you might want to have a sideboard for when you face a black deck, a lot of your removal is nonblack you might run into a spot of trouble vs some other decks. Possibly even reworking your removal to be less nonblack may cut out some cards.

I would suggest Syphon Mind and Innocent Blood if this is a multiplayer build. Also Read the Bones > Live Fast. In general, this looks like it is trying to be a 1 vs 1 deck, so if that is your intent, have fun with it. If you want something more effective in multiplayer, I would cut a fair chunk of the targeted removal (Terror, Vendetta,Ghastly Demise) and discard cards (Despise, Distress, Ostracize) when trying to get to 100. After that, maybe consider bringing in more board wipe with Crux of Fate, Mutilate, Decree of Pain and the like.
