"May all the cairns of Jund be toppled." ~Meren of Clan Nel Toth

This decks usually wins through attrition by depriving resources while being able to recur creatures to gain advantage.

Once Protean Hulk is on the battlefield sac it and fetch:

Respond to Body Snatcher's ETB trigger by sac'ing it to Viscera Seer. When it dies, reanimate Protean Hulk and then sac it again to fetch:

Sac Walking Ballista to Viscera Seer so it comes back with a +1/+1 counter from Mikaeus. Remove the counter to deal 1 damage to an opponent and then sac Walking Ballista to Viscera Seer and undying will trigger bringing back the ballista with a counter once again. Repeat indefinitely to kill all opponents.

Walking ballista will have +1/+1 from Mikaeus' static ability so this combo REQUIRES a sac outlet.

Sylvan Safekeeper is a failsafe to prevent anyone from disrupting the combo.

There are several three-card infinite combos in the deck. These combos have:

  1. A repeatable sac outlet. Altar of Dementia, Ashnod's Altar, Sadistic Hypnotist, Viscera Seer
  2. A persist creature. Puppeteer Clique, Woodfall Primus
  3. A way to remove the -1/-1 counter from the persist creature. Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

None of these combos are instant win.

Depending on which cards I use to assemble the combo this is what results I get:

Part 1.

Part 2.

  • Puppeteer Clique; reanimate all opponents creatures under my control
  • Woodfall Primus; destroy all noncreature permanents (you can target your own but that's a bad idea, just stop when you kill your opponents stuff and if you're nicer than me you might leave their lands alone)

Part 3.

*Add Smothering Abomination to draw your whole deck.

Advantage

This is my card draw and cards that give me the edge up on my opponents.

Enablers

I need one of these cards for the deck to be working at its best. These cards are the key piece to some of the more brutal interactions.

Finishers

These cards end games and must be dealt with immediately.

Lands

The category includes all lands in the deck but listed below are the utility lands and uses for each. Keep in mind Crop Rotation can tutor these into play at instant speed.

Protection

These cards protect my board state and help me get around things like targeted removal or the occasional terrastodon.

Ramp

This is my mana ramp. - Overeager Apprentice gets me , an experience counter and I get to discard a dude to reanimate? Yep.

Recursion

These are supplemental to Meren, she can’t do it all by herself. With the number of ETB triggers in the deck I get twice the value from most of these cards. The most underrated card in this category is Wake the Dead. I can easily reanimate a bunch of creatures to stop an opponent from winning and wipe the board with ETB triggers all while gaining experience counters.

Removal

This is my removal suite. In this deck I prefer the majority of my control be attached to a creature so I can continually reanimate them and repeat the effects.

Tutors

These are the cards that will get me what I need when I need it. In this deck anything attached to a creature is value added so Sidisi, Undead Vizier and Fierce Empath are the all-stars here.

  • Birthing Pod is one of the best tutors in the deck because the creatures sacrificed to it can be put back in your hand or onto the battlefield with Merens ability and you gain an experience counter.
  • Fauna Shaman is similar to the previous but it can be activated at instant speed and brought back from the graveyard.
  • Buried Alive is a very powerful tutor but it can easily be answered with graveyard removal. That is why I never search for my three best choices. I will always get the best, third best, and fifth best choices, that way it looks less threatening to my opponents and I can still come back if my graveyard is exiled at that time.
  • Crop Rotation is to fetch a utility land when you need it. Nothing better than instant speed Bojuka Bog. See 'Lands' section for more details.
  • Diabolic Intent can get anything I need and an experience counter. I'm usually going to go for Spore Frog or some sort of removal like Massacre Wurm or Bane of Progress.
  • Entomb is an extremely versatile card, not only can it get me whatever creature I would need in my yard at instant speed but I can toss an instant or sorcery card in the yard to be returned with Eternal Witness if needed.
  • Jarad's Orders, dude in the yard to get back with Meren and a threat to cast.
  • Fierce Empath, Rune-Scarred Demon, and Sidisi, Undead Vizier are recurrable tutors. Sidisi gets you an experience counter and empath is limited to big ass creatures.
