Introduction

This deck is pretty closely based off of https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-commander-najeela-the-blade-blossom-58-211, with only a couple of changes here and there. This is probably one of my favorite decks that I've ever played and piloted. I really enjoy it in my commander pod, playing in my LGS, and wherever and whenever I can. It never fails to enjoy and I hope it can give inspiration to others!

How to enjoy this deck

Aggro Show

The first of many strategies with this is to go aggro, by simply laying down early one drops like Bramblewood Paragon or Mindblade Render or Blood-Chin Rager etc. Then as soon as possible, either turn 2 or three, drop down a Najeela, the Blade-Blossom and start swinging, making a bunch of tokens and hoping nothing gets removed.

Infinite Combat Show

Another major way to win is by gaining infinite combat and just smacking everyone to death. There are a couple ways to do this. One is with Najeela, the Blade-Blossom + Druids' Repository and at least 5 attackers if you have no mana open. This will allow you to continuously activate Najeela's ability.

Another way is with Najeela, the Blade-Blossom + Derevi, Empyrial Tactician and again, swing, untap mana, activate Najeela, swing, untap, etc. Again this will just win you the game if you have 5 creatures that can deal combat damage.

A third way to gain infinite combat is with Combat Celebrant and Najeela, the Blade-Blossom as Celebrant can extort, Najeela can untap while attacking, by passing the extort, and just chain combat steps off of that.

A fourth way involves the enchantment Breath of Fury . While it is often times awkward to use if you don't have any token to equip it to on board, equiping it to any creature, besides Najeela, that can get through. Equip to a random creature, combat damage, get another combat step. With Najeela on board this means you will create a large amount of tokens. Lets say somebody is open, but their at 40 life. You swing with a Breath of Fury creature and Najeela is on board, you deal 2 damage (38 life) and get another combat step, equip it to a 1/1 and then do the next 38 damage to that person, or attack with 2 creatures, and be doubling your tokens each time, etc etc. A note about this, the reason I say to ping somebody down for 38 damage 1 at a time is because of Ezuri, Claw of Progress . If he is on the board, you get an experience counter for each 2 or less that comes in, aka your 1/1 warriors. Do that 38 times, thats 38 combat triggers, with an ascending each time. It comes out to around 741 counters to assign over 38 combat triggers. You might ask--well how exactly does this work though? What if the two other players have blockers?. If you dont have mana--well then you have a massive board and can swing with it, presumably overwhelming their defensive and making them take some damage if possible. Or, save the mana, activate Najeela, give everything trample, lifelink, and haste, and then trample your way to victory.

There is also the possibility of Nature's Will which acts similarly to Derevi, Empyrial Tactician wincon, but you can do it with fewer lands.

Sit back and wait Show

This may seem against all your warrior instincts, but honestly sometimes the best way is to just sandbag all the good cards in your hand, don't play Najeela until you are going to win, and just occasionally get some blockers down and some draw cards to make it look like you are trying. Your opponents will just assume you are useless and cannot do anything. This allows you to essentially build the combo you need in hand, hope somebody leaves no blockers, then throw out a Najeela, a Rushblade Commander and then say a Druids' Repository . I assume this will not happen until turn 7 ish when you have easily 10 plus mana, which allows you to get minimum 2 charge counters, plus another 3 open mana, meaning you've spent 11 mana total, and won the game most likely.

Another fun way to do it, is sit back ad wait, get a smallish board, plop down and Eldrazi Monument or an Iroas, God of Victory and whack people in the face. For a bunch of damage, and make your stuff indestructible.

Combo'ing Off Show

Another way to close the game out is related to the Godo, Bandit Warlord + Helm of the Host infinite combat win. I include this in a different section because you use Godo to grab helm and equip to him. You can then attack with the haste Godo copy, and win from there.

A couple of ways to tutor this is through a Flash + Protean Hulk combo. Overall this is a seven mana combo, Flash for 2, protean hulk, dies to trigger (you dont pay to) you then search for Godo, who grabs helm, and then equip helm for 5. This is just another way to close the game out as often times the main wincons of najeela and multiple combat step beat down. You could feasibly pull this win off on turn 3 if you: T1 (Land, Sol Ring, Rock), T2 (Land, and another 2 mana generator. Or a dork and a rock, Or land + Rock + Rock). T3(cast flash and hulk or if not enough rocks, drop land, then cast flahs+hulk)

If you are looking for more competitive or better comobo's then the flash + hulk + Godo + Helm is by no means the best way to do it. It requires too many pieces and there are many more resilient hulk lines.
