I want to take Sylvan Primordial because it is my personal opinion that the card should be banned in this format. Does anyone have suggestions for a replacement?

I decided to continue to run Sylvan Primordial in my most competitive deck and if it becomes banned I will replace it with a Woodfall Primus .

I finally got a few cards I always wanted. I'm trading Voidslime for Cryptic Command and Counterspell for Mana Drain . Also I'm switching out Creeping Tar Pit with Underground River (because I still haven't acquired an Underground Sea ). Now besides Vesuva I have no lands that come in tapped. Believe me it matters when it comes down to play by play matches in competitive decks.

I have to say, this looks like a real solid deck.

That said, I cant help but wondering about Living Death , is it realy that usefull to you? I mean, your deck looks like a "quality over quantity" deck and it seems one of your opponets might get a "better" use from it then you.

Oh, and if you need some more card draw. Fathom Mage and Etched Oracle could work well with The Mimeoplasm . And Hydra Omnivore Could be fun if you find yourself swinging with The Mimeoplasm a bit in a multiplayer game.

To answer your question, yes Living Death is brutal in this deck. It gets around indestructible. I have a lot of etb effects. I can exile their grave with Bajuka Bog or I can exile their creatures with my Mimeo if need be. With Survival of the fittest its just so powerful. As far as the suggested creatures.. I did at one point in the infancy of this deck buy a whole commander set just to get Hydra Omnivore for this deck, but its to specific, easy to kill, no haste or trample just not really overall effective. The other creatures I use in a second Mimeo deck I have with cards that were good but didn't make the cut for what I'm doing with this deck. Don't really need anymore card draw with this deck. I have Rhystic Study, Phyrexian Arena, Greater Good, Minds Eye, Disciple of Bolas, Zegana, Notion Thief, ect. It's plenty in any match.

How do I trade cards on this site?

I really don't like Notion Thief in this deck but works well with Survival of the Fittest . Also I'll trade out Vesuva for a Mana Confluence when I can.

If it was I wouldn't have a maybeboard of cards I don't have I would just add those cards in and say I run them.

Insidious Dreams and Magus of the Library have some insane synergy with Damia, so it definitely wouldn't hurt to find room for them. Psychosis Crawler can practically be a win con in itself if you are able to clear your hand efficiently.

I like those cards and will defiantly consider at least two of them.I'm likely going to remove about 10 cards to make room for a couple more lands (hopefully fetch), a Exploration , a couple cards that give me the ability to Flash Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation , a Sylvan Library and the rest I haven't decided. I just know I want cards that win me the game and Psychosis Crawler is really a card I hadn't considered for anything besides "Wheel" decks. Thanks again!

Play tested a couple days ago. Turn 2 Damia, Sage of Stone was Path to Exile. Took out Craterhoof Behemoth and Avenger of Zendikar because they are dead cards most of the time and added Mental Misstep and ,temporarily, Vedalken Orrery for added early game protection from the most common removal Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile.

Took out Vedalken Orrery and put Avenger of Zendikar back in because it is a bigger threat.

I'm curious what the win condition for this deck is, because I can't seem to suss it out. No big finishers, no Laboratory Maniac, no Jarad, no way to increase commander damage, Deadeye combos with Palinchron, but to what end? No Mystic Snake or Draining Whelk or Venser, Shaper Savant to lock the game with Deadeye...

So many cards to advance your board and get answers but nothing that actually simply ends the game...?

Is the mana and spell denial meant to lead to eventual death in combat?

Infinite mana + Blue Sun's Zenith to mill all opponents.

Blue Sun can only kill one opponent at a time. Not to mention you only have 1 draw X spell in the deck. How do you plan on killing the other two opponents? No way can you guarantee Twincast being in your hand when you need it. 6 tutors is decent, but getting both cards AND infinite mana is far from consistent. Even just getting the double mana combo and Blue Sun is pushing it if you used those tutors to build a board or obtain control cards.

The only way I could think of would be drawing yourself to zero and then shuffle Blue Sun back in your library, and draw 1 card 2 times. How do you intend to accomplish that? What mechanics will you have in place to prevent you from accidentally killing yourself with Damia or your draw step or Arcane Denial or whatever else?

I might recommend Laboratory Maniac and Abundance in case of these problems. With this much control, Laboratory Maniac is much less of a risk than it is in most decks.

Abundance is just good period, but there's a little trick to the card; it can replace any draw, so you can never lose to having no cards in library. Whenever you would draw a card, just replace the draw with land/non-land option and nothing will happen.

Nope, you setup your combo and win. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dominus-dreamcrusher-edition/

The linked deck has the same problem your deck has. I read the entire thing. It just assumes that infinite mana means automatically winning. It doesn't. If you don't have Blue Sun's Zenith or a way to obtain it, then what? Deadeye + Venser?

Both decks have many favorable redundancies to ensure victory and yet don't run more draw X spells? Why?

Cirridian says... #25

@IQuarent While I haven't played this list specifically, it runs fundamentally the same as the Dreamcrusher list. This Damia deck relies primarily on resolving tooth and nail to either deck the opponent out or to achieve a venser lock. The reason why more draw x spells aren't run is because we do not want to ever draw into them and because the spells themselves are inefficient card draw. Blue Sun is in the deck only as a win con that isn't always a dead draw. These decks run a lot of tutors that make access to Venser or Blue Sun nearly guaranteed when comboing off. Keep in mind that cards like eternal witness, snapcaster mage, yawg will, green sun zenith, mystical teachings (in graveyard or hand) usually function as tutors themselves by reusing some tutors or to just recast TnN again to get venser to lock or rune scar to tutor for a win con. There are many lines to get there. Also, there is a built in chain to get blue sun zenith if none of these options are available. If your lands can produce 7 mana (3 of which needs to be blue, ideally 4) you can produce infinite mana and tutor for any card. TnN for Rune Scar and Palinchron, untap lands and tutor for Phantasmal Image with Rune Scar, play Phantasmal Image copying Palinchron (those two create infinite mana by untapping 7 lands by spending 6 mana), generate an arbitrarily large amount of mana, then cast phantasmal image one more time as a copy of rune scar to tutor for the finisher.
